Obama says we're close but not there yet. He just spoke to the American people and an audience stacked with his political props. He antagonized Republicans, setting the stage for his next political fight on budget cuts that will be coming up in a few months.
So far, the deal is close and includes the Bush Era tax cuts for all those making less than $250,000 a year; there are no spending cuts; there is one year extended unemployment. Unemployment benefits have been 99 weeks in most States and he is going to extend for another 52 weeks!
We have a spending problem and Obama wants to ignore it. We have an entitlement society and Obama makes it worse.

I am sorry, but I am afraid that if you do not become more positive and upbeat on this blog, no one will come to read it or want to contribute to the threads anymore. It has become so hateful and attacking of Pres. Obama and the US Democrats that it is almost offensive. I am not sure I will be bothering to come to your blog in 2013 or read or react to anymore of your threads, I am finding it more and more offensive and have less interest in what you write about. Well thank you for sharing your thoughts. As this is a free country, the last time I checked, we all can express our opinion. Obama won with 50.9% of the vote. Then there are the rest of us who don't believe in his direction of unsustainable debt. One-half of the people in this country believe Obama has failed. Hopefully you will be able to realize that we are a democracy and as such, opinions do matter. Please go to another blog where you can feel all warm and fuzzy.

I agree with lw citizen. I read your blog for info about Lake Worth (lynn's little bit of trivia--lake worth).
It's your blog and you can write what you please, but FOX News already covers Obama quite extensively.
That being said, I enjoy your reporting, opinions and comments (whether I agree or disagree) about Lake Worth and South Florida.
There's something for everyone, anonymous. Even Socialists might agree on what I write on national issues from time to time.
Obama won with 52.3% of the vote and that's the highest % an incumbent president has ever won by. Get it right.
It was the Repubilcan Congress that campaigned on creating new jobs. So far they've filed 32 bills to stop Obamacare a bunch of new anti abortion bills but no job bills. Get it right.
When Obama took office did he inherit a budget surplus or debt? Did he have to spend money to save the country from going in to a depression?
Obama is a smart guy. He's out manuevered the GOP the whole time they were working hard to make him a 1 term president. If he says he's going to work on the debt then you can be sure he will.
