The Trojan boys basketball team is going to The Capital City Classic Tournament is Tallahassee. Their housing and meals are covered but they need financial help with rental of two vans and gas to transport the team. The vans cost $880 and I would make a wild guess of $300 for gas money. They will leave December 18 and will return on the 22nd.
If you are willing to make a contribution please email me ASAP as time is of the essence. Checks should be made to LWHS with the notation "Boys Basketball Tournament." Mail your check to the school at 1701 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, FL 33460. Please let me know how much you will be sending so I can keep track of it.
The team has a new coach this year. Murray Smith comes to us with a reputation of having winning teams. He has won 3 state championships and all his seniors usually get scholarships. Our record is 6-1 at this point and they play Boynton Saturday night. The team is currently ranked No. 5 in the county. We will be announcing an alumni night soon and ask that all alumni attend. Wayne Akers Ford should donate the Vans. The Mayor should let you use her credit card. Later have a car wash to pay her back.
Also I think its not a good idea to travel that far for a Tournament like that. Will they want special uniforms just for that? The parents could pitch in for most of it or dont go.
