From the backup for tomorrow's meeting:
COMPENSATION & RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
Compensation for the next City Manager will depend on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. The starting salary is expected to be in the range of $140,000 - $160,000. Fringe benefits are competitive with the local market. Residency in Lake Worth is desired, but will not be required if the successful candidate lives within a reasonable commute of the City.
But the Charter says:
Sec. 2-3. - City manager and utility director residence requirement.
The city manager and utility director must establish a bona fide residence in the city, within six (6) months of appointment as city manager. A bona fide residence, for the purpose of this section, is a permanent domicile within the city which has not been adopted with the intention of again taking up or claiming a previous residence acquired outside of the city limits.
(Ord. No. 87-2, § 1, 1-19-87; Ord. No. 88-11, § 1, 5-16-88; Ord. No. 92-11, § 1, 5-4-92; Ord. No. 2006-20, § 1, 6-20-06)
I, therefore, object to anyone arbitrarily changing this requirement.

Our "visionaries" need a vision test.
And with those requirements it should say that you should bend over backwards and only do what the commission tells you how to run your job. Like they seem to know how. BS.
Didn't the backup come from Staff? If so, then they are the ones who need a vision test. The City Attorney (staff) should have pointed out the residency requirements in the Charter.
This was not prepared by the commission. I find it amazing that some folks are out to attack the new commission at every level. Enjoy the holidays.
If it was staff, my bad. I do expect the worst. I'll be happy to learn otherwise.
I sent this info to the commission. Hopefully they read e-mails. Who knows. NO one ever acknowledges an e-mail. NO ONE.
