Commissioner Amoroso

Comment Up
Well, it was Saturday afterall.
And if you think about it, there was some
heavy hitting on the dais...not exactly a ballfield
but a battlefield with the majority swinging.

Not sure what we all have to look forward to this year with three people making all of the decisions and not even listening to professional advice. Prior to this commission change, most all of the votes were decided on a 5/0. Not so now.

Amarosa is treacherous

Lynn, are you saying that the previous commission operated like a well oiled machine without dissent?

Let's be honest, everyone knows who controlled everything at city hall during the last 4 or 5 years. First it was obviously jennings and in the past year it was mulvehill. Even if what you say is true about the new "majority", what has changed in the context of the political realities that the new people do not see things in the same way that the previous majority stronghold did.

And really Lynn, framing any member of the majority as not being concerned about the city's better interest is not right. Who in the new majority has anything to gain by "destroying the city". I think we all have better things to do with our community involvement and I have never seen any evidence that the new majority has or will be of that mindset. Although you seem really upset with Maxwell in particular over the manager situation, will you ever admit that he and the others were addressing one of the many issues that the entire community was concerned about. You continue to maintain the Stanton was no miss congeniality and obviously others so it as well.

I get upset with control freaks. I get upset with stupidity. I get upset when there is no independent thought.

Suzanne Mulvehill and Christopher McVoy were right yesterday. The others were not.

Lynn, did the past commission ever attempt to even compromise on anything? Don't see much evidence of that anywhere. Did the past commission ever consider Maxwell's opinion or point of view on anything or actually act on it? Maxwell can't be a complete idiot in everyone's eyes devoid of a common sense idea or thought, can he? How about this, did they ever take the "popular" position of the people?
Like it or not Lynn, the past commission did exactly what THEY wanted to do, and did not take no as an option just as you perhaps blame the new one of doing. Here are some examples of the old commission decisions that went directly against the entire community: census committee, pbso, fire service, fire assessment and maybe even the beach project given the other priorities the city faces. Decisions all that went directly against the will of the people. I am just confused and don't think you can have it both ways. The previous mind sets and considerations or lack of same might have been okay and supported by you in the past doesn't seem worthy of equal consideration in the present.

Thanks for all the examples above.

First of all, some of those were not this past commission.
PBSO--I was against going with them--so was Cara Jennings.
FIRE-I was against outsourcing this. Suzanne Mulvehill was the only commissioner who agreed with me.
CENSUS COMMITTEE: I was FOR this.
CASINO: I was FOR this project once it was voted in. It was the other side of politics that caused these problems there. I would have liked to have seen us just do the necessary to the old building, not building a new structure.
BEACH REDEVELOPMENT: I have always been against redesigning parking lots and taking out our upper level parking and this was Cara Jennings and Rene Varela's doing.
FIRE ASSESSMENT: I was 100% against this money grab.

So "your" will of the people is somewhat different than MY will of the people.

So, I really have no clue as to what you are saying. Whatever I believe is just as worthy as what you believe. I only wish that everyone get their facts straight. And that is the problem right now.
