Shop Local: Small businesses mean big choices in downtown Lake Worth Beach
Shopping is an adventure with unique restaurants and gifts in Lake Worth Beach's downtown. The 10 blocks of downtown Lake Worth Beach’s shopping district embrace diversity with unique finds for everyone on your list, and globe-spanning eateries.
Start at the Tacky Tourist, the latest outlet for iconic shop owner Andy Amoroso’s imagination. From incense, jewelry, clothes, vintage finds and costumes to rubber chickens, the common thread is fun. Even if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. Move on to Trinkets and Treasures for global gifts, clothes and art for more ideas.
Whether you like to dress up, dress down or just stay cool, Carielle’s Closet at 9 N. K St. spans the spectrum from trendy to high-end and classic consignment. Eclective Boutique at 705 Lake Ave. offerings include Italian linens, pre-owned and menswear as well as art for the home and locally sourced body care.
The Dancing Elephant book shop calls itself a “metaphysical bookstore” but has classics and collectors’ editions as well. While your cats and dogs can’t tell you what they want to eat, play with and wear, the expert staff at Paws on the Avenue, 525 Lake Ave., can with stuff for pets and their parents. This store helps the county’s Animal Care and Control find worthy homes for kittens and cats, who can be found in a cozy cage by the front door.[Palm Beach Post]

Tacky Tourist is an excellent little shop. Unique gifts for one and all.
There are only two stores that I will always visit--Trinkets and Treasures and Andy's shop. I have so much stuff that I seldom indulge in buying but I love both of these shops.
Lynn, I agree with you about the two shops. Both are fun to explore.
still wont vote for andy
Me either
i remember a few years ago lynn when you didnt want nothing to do with andy.cant make up your mind
Will answer this tomorrow anonymous as I am on my cell right now. This blog is about shopping local
Will answer tomorrow
@7:15--Years ago, Andy was part of the trio that wanted the county to give away 100 acres of John Prince Park to the Atlanta Braves directly across from where I live. This is when we started the John Prince Park Preservation page on Facebook. We did everything possible to stop their quest, even appearing in front of the Palm Beach County Commission. As you know, the Atlanta Braves went to Sarasota.
There will always be some decision that a commission will take with which I may not agree.
Andy has a small business downtown and that is what this blog was emphasizing, not past political disagreements.
I do not trust him nonetheless, he was not good, just super self serving!
Driving up Lake Avenue around noon today, it was like a ghost town. I realize it is Monday Morning, but it is not usually that empty.
Can Andy revitalize this town, or is its' fate just the inexorable downward slide of so many other small cities?
Towns and cities need money. Money comes from good jobs. Where are the good jobs in Lake Worth?
We've been depending on the influx of Capital from the north, but if the Town is no longer appealing, they will go elsewhere.
Is feeding the homeless an act of benevolence, or stupidity Just the fact there are so many homeless here now, is almost a guarantee that the Town is on Life Supports.
Maybe we should take a page out of the Native Americans book and build a Casino. Personally, I would never go there, but the Casino employs a lot of people and pays them well.
What else can you do?
The town can be revitalized. We need a mayor that won't pander to race, and won't pander to homelessness. The current mayor has made life very difficult for small businesses. She and William Waters have harassed small businesses enough for them to leave. I mean, William didnt like color green on one building, so they had to paint a portion of it???
Betty doesn't like a mural, so she calls it a sign which needs special permit. More money, more headaches.
We need to be rid of Betty no matter what!!!
Neither Betty, nor Andy can revitalize the City without an industrial base.
Who is going to buy from small businesses, if they can't even afford to rent an apartment?
These are hard facts! This is the sad Truth!
if people read about the shootings in lw and another body found in bryant park .why try to bring a shop here.2-3 years ago andy was telling people the homeless were craping in doorways of shops.almost looked like he wanted to be the only shop here.also waters shouldnt have his job
