FWC says iguanas not protected in Florida, except by anti-cruelty law
LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — Some residents in Lake Worth Beach are not feeling safe after they said iguana trappers are shooting into yards.Melanie Valentine said her Lake Worth Beach neighborhood is "iguana central."
Read about it at WPTV... She asked them to stop shooting into her yard and received "nasty" retorts.
Those described here are not really "trappers" but basically killers. Florida law prohibits the relocation, sale, or transfer of iguanas, but it does allow for humane euthanization.
Except for anti-cruelty laws, all non-native reptile species, such as the green iguana, are not protected in Florida, except when legally killed on private property with landowner permission. In this case, they did NOT have permission. This species is legal to capture and kill year-round on 25 public lands in south Florida without the use of a permit or hunting license.

I hope this will be looked into. Something seems a bit off-key here.
Another problem that should have been dealt with years ago. Now we have an epidemic of the creatures, and shooting them in peoples yards, seems so extreme.
There's a couple residents, one on the board at lake Clark gardens condos in lake worth that they're always going around shooting all the iguanas all over the complex within just a few feet or yards from a lot of the apartments a lot of people don't like it and it's unsafe to be shooting so close even if they're using an air gun or whatever they're using shooting so close to apartments where people live I don't really think they should allow it, but it's happening even today still. I'm surprised that the Palm Beach county sheriff's office would allow it even if one of the people are an ex police officer from New York they still shouldn't be shooting so close proximity to where people live in it's just a matter of feet or yards that they're shooting at iguanas where people are living so close to apartments. Seems very unsafe!
How do they cope with Iguanas in their native countries?
I think they shouldn't allow any iguana hunting or hunting within city limits or within limits where large residents are populations live if they're shooting so close to someone's home or apartment it's very very dangerous because they could shoot into somebody's dwelling.
if these idiots are shooting into yards what kid of guns are they using.if they are called b-b guns they have to be pretty powerful to go into the skin of these guys.what happened with the no discharging firearms in city limits.hope no neighbors or kids get injured
Again, I have to ask the question: How do they cope with them in their native countries?

The dealers in exotic animals should all be shut down. Why do we have to be selling these foreign animals here anyway. Snakes; lizards; tigers; emus!
People shouldn't have these animals as pets under any circumstances. If you want to have pet snakes from Burma; go and live in Burma!
But no! In America you can do whatever you want!

We live in a country and world now where anything goes! It's crazy but I don't think people should just be able to just be shooting left and right into people's yards within feet of people's apartments or homes hunting iguanas so close to dwellings and where people live and the Palm Beach county sheriff's office should really stop all this hunting and shooting of iguanas so close to where people live they have to figure out a better way of catching them and trapping them and getting rid of them but shooting so close to apartments and homes it's just not right and it's not safe!
There been some articles in the Sun sentinel and farther south I think in Broward or Miami about iguana hunting and how people have been shot because of them shooting at iguana so close to where people live they really need to do something about it because it's very unsafe.
Like everything we do in this country, we let the problem go until the last minute

Go to the college on Congress and shoot all the iguanas you want with a BB gun they're all over the banks they're in the water or go to the park go to Bryant Park or John Prince Park iguana is all over the place take your little pellet guns go kill all the iguanas everywhere don't go shooting somebody's backyard cuz there might be no kid you might accidentally hit in the kid and then what even though it's a little pillar that's still going to go through them let me shoot you with a pellet gun and see what it feels like
