with all the bells and gates why are people going around.how many remember growing up and there were no bells lites or gates.plus we could hear trains come.windows were open with no air.blaring music doesnt help today either.not saying the train is always right but come on.

The train IS always right. It cannot stop because some idiot decided to cross the tracks when the gates are down. If caught trying to go around the gate, a fine should be imposed. The insurance should go up.

Lets put gate cameras and see who goes around and fine them right away!

This may save the lives of the idiots.

gate cameras are a great idea but dont forget when it makes sense the lefties will want to fight you on privicy.

We do not need any more signs or safety measures at Brightline Rail Road tracks on Florida, anymore than we need Signs on Lake Worth's Beach warning people that if they can't swim they should not walk into the water. People dumb enough to walk into the ocean as non-swimmers, need to be allowed to commit suicide if this is their will, just as the motorists that don't understand what a Railroad Crossing implies, need to meet Mother Nature.

Nature has a place for the functional of a species, and Nature has a solution for the defectives that should not exist--it allows them to be removed from the gene pool.

We should leave the Train Track safety issue to Nature.

dumbest thing ever said leave it to nature

Anon @3:01
Apparently, you can't read. We already have a massive safety infrastructure at every train track intersection with a road in South Florida--including the sites of the last few collisions.

Going beyond this, to protect the people that should not be allowed to drive period...is a mistake. Nature has the solution for those people :-) I stand by this.

AND...anyone that ran over one of those concrete islands they put on some Lake Worth streets to narrow them, and to SLOW the traffic...People that ran over these would be just as likely to run over a pedestrian or a cyclist, or just plow into another car--so they deserve to have their car ruined!!!!

sounds like 3-28 got up on the wrong side of the bed

Dan, I would hardly call those rickety crossing arms a marvel of engineering safety. The whole reason for this train is to collect massive amounts of money getting people from Miami to Orlando. The train costs a fortune, and while I had at one time championed Brightline, I now think it is a killing machine.

There is no warning signal, because the idiots that live in the condos have to get their sleep, and I hope you are never caught with those arms coming down on your windshield when those lights suddenly go on, and some ass is behind you and won't move back an inch. I was!

@4:39 The train horns affected residences of ROLO as well as the NA on the other side of the tracks. The Condos out here had nothing to do with it. The FRA agreed to stop them.
OK to debate but to call a neighborhood "idiots" is just plain uncalled for.

I'm talking about the upscale communities on Federal Hwy. If you are from any normal place where people live, you get used to trains from the time you are a child. I love the sound of the train whistle; it conjures up images of far-off places and romantic escapes.

just saw the film on 12 the truck did nit go around gates.i think its sad how people come up with stories before they know the facts

The train goes too fast through these intersections. How come the freight train doesn't have all of these accidents. They should move the train further west, if they want to go at those speeds. The whole thing is wrong. Wrongly conceived, and wrongly executed. At some point they should be indicted for vehicular homicide.

Imagine you're a rider on the train when it kills somebody. Amtrak would stop for an hour if it hit an alligator in Georgia. This train is killing people.

We have to stop making excuses for it!

We need to stop making excuses for stupid people. People will ALWAYS find a new way of being stupid and bypassing whatever safety measures are put into place. As for 4:39- If you got a gate down on your windsheild, that's on you. You obviously were WELL PAST the very clearly marked stop bars. No warning signals??? Are you deaf and blind as well as dumb? Flashing lights, gates ,and warning bells are not enough to get your attention? Are train crossings a new thing for you ? Have you never seen one? A train horn blaring for 5 miles before they get to the intersection you ran would not help you. But that horn would make life hell for the hundreds of the rest of us. I mean really, what do want? Water cannons? Spike strips? The real "killing machines" are the stupid, impatient, clueless people that maneuver themselves into the path of an oncoming train.

Actually, 9:58, it was a case of the lights malfunctioning. I reported it to Lantana, they referred it to the police, and whatever caused it to happen was worked on. Fortunately, it did not break my windshield, or my head, for that matter.

Three cheers to the guy in the truck, who wouldn't back-up 6 inches so that I could have gotten out of the way.
