The Gal who doesn't like Guns along with Beto

Anti-gun leftist Bette Midler ripped as 'massively irresponsible' for telling people to 'come armed' to NRA convention protest

\u201cAT THE GEORGE R BROWN CONVENTION CENTER IN HOUSTON TEXAS, THIS WEEKEND. Come armed.\u201d — bettemidler (@bettemidler) 1653496249

As for former President Trump, he confirmed his attendance over on Truth Social: “America needs real solutions and real leadership in this moment, not politicians and partisanship. That’s why I will keep my longtime commitment to speak in Texas at the NRA Convention and deliver an important address to America. In the meantime, we all continue to pray for the victims, their families, and for our entire nation–we are all in this together!”

Beto O’Rourke, who is running for governor, is reportedly planning to attend a protest outside the convention along with several anti-gun organizations.

The NRA convention is taking place beginning today, May 27 through the 29. Only NRA members can attend.

The Second Amendment applies to all Americans.

You got something against Americans exercising their 2A, Lynn? Republicans seem to feel that they're the only ones who can call others "the enemy" and carry a firearm to defend themselves from "the enemy."

Works both ways, doesn't it? Thinking otherwise might be a fatal error.

I guess you totally missed the point, 3:35.
Her call for arms totally shows her hypocrisy on this issue.
She abhors guns but wants people to protest a convention with guns! LOL What a hoot.
Incidentally, there are no weapons of any kind being allowed into this convention.

They're not in the convention hall, Lynn. Incidentally, they're demonstrating outside. It's all over the internet.

One other thing. People can own guns and be pro 2A and still want gunsense laws that help keep guns out of the hands of bad guys.

I hope protestors come armored up and with ARs strapped across their chest like we see every time MAGA gets together. Never know when you're gonna have to defend yourself from The Enemy. Isn't that right?

How do you keep guns out of the hands of bad guys? Explain that one.
I have never seen MAGA rallies with people having guns. You live in a warped fantasy.
And yes, I know, they are demonstrating outside. They are not allowed inside. They can demonstrate all they want. The NRA has nothing to do with bad guys/mentally ill people who shoot up schools, etc. who get hold of guns.

"How do you keep guns out of the hands of bad guys?"

I said "help keep." Nothing is 100%.

Universal background checks to start. 90% of America is in favor of them.

Preventing access to guns by those who pose a risk to themselves or others. Red flag laws.

There's a whole list of measures here...https://www.everytown.org/issues/keeping-guns-out-of-the-wrong-hands/

We have the Brady Act where background checks are run through the FBI. I absolutely believe in background checks and I also agree with Red flag laws to the extent of some mentally challenged person who could be a danger to himself or others acquiring a gun.
BUT, someone who wants to obtain a gun, will do so.

The Uvalde shooter tried to get a gun before he was 18 and he couldn't. Laws work. They're not 100% but nothing is. We have laws against murdering people. People still get murdered. Doesn't mean that the laws don't work or we shouldn't have them.

Universal background checks would include checks on ALL sales, not just those made through licensed dealers. Only 1 in 10 Americans is against that. Only 1 in 10.

It's a start.

The other option is to continue to do nothing and make lame excuses for not doing anything after kids get killed.

It seems to me that HIPPA would be an impediment to background checks. I wouldn't be surprised if anti-psychotic drugs come under HIPPA.

At any rate, you would have to have a pretty fool-proof way of doing background checks, and we seem to have lost that ability for the most part.
Furthermore, it would be impossible to search all of the internet sites these lunatics are visiting and participating in. I'm not against background checks, I just think it's a fool's errand. Then again, if it stops one tragedy!

I can just hear them now, saying, well, it didn't show up on the background check.
