As I write, C-Span has had the British Parliament's debate on banning Donald Trump from the U.K. that started from an on-line petition for what was considered "hate" speech. This is totally unbelievable and shameful!
One of the few who made some sense was Philip Davies, a Conservative, who accused those who want to stamp out
intolerance of being intolerant themselves. He said that it’s easy to be
for “motherhood and apple pie,” but that it takes “real guts” to say
things that are controversial. He’s not defending Trump. But he is
defending Trump’s right to speak. Davies is interrupted by another
Conservative, Adam Holloway, who says the debate is “embarrassing” for
Britain. “We should apologize to the people of the United States,” he
says. “It’s for them to decide, not us.”
