John Szerdi, Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell and Jack Simons
Perhaps this photo is really a Blast from the Past when John Szerdi was campaigning a few years ago for Lisa Maxwell in this very same District where he lives at 217 S. Palmway. We know what happened to Lisa.
John has started his political career by filing to run for office here in Lake Worth for Commissioner District 4. Getting elected to the Board of Directors of his neighborhood association was also a good political move.
Szerdi's firm, Living Designs, Inc. designed the 33,000 s.f. Eco Centre on Lake Avenue to Leed certification with the intent of achieving Gold certification. The Environmental Protection Agency says that building "green" costs only a small percentage more. There are tax benefits for building "green." Unfortunately, we know what happened to this building.
Last year, Szerdi protested the fact that Leo A. Daily was chosen as the top ranked architect firm in response to RFP #10/11-101 as the Architect for New Public Services Facility. The Commission granted him his protest on a 3/1 vote, Mulvehill dissenting, when it agreed to grant his appeal and suggested that the Selection Committee be reconstituted with 5 members and those applicants on the short-list re-submit their proposals. Maxwell admitted that he had called Mr. Szerdi before the vote.
His firm also is involved in our beach redevelopment project that seems to have gone awry with millions of unexpected suggested costs over the approved budget of $5 million. No one knows what happened here or what the commission will decide when it comes to spending taxpayer money. Vice Mayor Maxwell above says "Not one dime of taxpayer money will be spent on our beach." Maybe John can tell us how that's all working out. Having a vested interest in our beach redevelopment project, we can only hope that he agrees not to spend one penny over the original Budget of $5 million.

So, since in the picture above he is campaigning for Maxwell, I guess that if he is elected they will have a veto proof majority of 4-1?
He was campaigning for Lisa Maxwell. All the photo shows is that they were of like thinking two years ago for a losing candidate against Suzanne Mulvehill.
If he wins, we can assume that he will be siding with the present majority.
There are two sides of politics in this city and then there are people, such as myself, in the middle. Some in the middle, as are people in both factions, easily persuaded to believe that anarchists are taking over or blame them on the demise of our city. They jump on this bandwagon without thinking about what the real causes are and continue to vilify good people.
Politics is a blood sport as your friend Rene Varela once said. He, also, ended up with his image tarnished as he lost his integrity along the way.
That's Lake Worth politics and some are nasty and rotten to the core with personal hidden agendas. Sometimes it is difficult to figure out who the good guy is. You have to attend city commission meetings to see it all in real time to evaluate fairly.
