Domestic Violence Awareness Month
On Tuesday evening, the City of Lake Worth recognized Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Vice Mayor Suzanne Mulvehill, a survivor of domestic violence, gave an emotional speech in front of City Hall and Mayor Waterman spoke on the subject relative to raising her own two children. Advocacy groups spoke and surviving members of those killed from domestic violence were present for the solemn ceremony and prayer.
In honor of Martha Aguilar, murdered by her husband in Lake Worth last month and in honor of all the victims and their families of domestic violence, the purple lights were turned on and will remain lighted through the month of October in front of City Hall.
