The Florida Chamber, Evil Arm of Bad

Comment Up
With jobs at the expense of all else, on Thursday, the political Florida Chamber gave out 43 distinguished advocate awards. Among the 43 were two Democrats, all the rest were Republicans. The Chamber said that the 43 "went above and beyond to pass important reform bills that will secure Florida’s future by creating high-skill, high-wage jobs." These "advocates" passed 31 of what it considered the Florida Chamber’s 36 pro-jobs measures during the 2011 session. No, Jeff Clemens was not on the list.

The Florida Chamber of Commerce applauded the defeat of E-Verify and the dismantling of the Department of Community Affairs, the only government arm that was watching over Comp Plan changes and growth in Florida. It is all about jobs to the Chamber, not the health of our State. It also agreed to the elimination of corporate income tax for nearly one-half of the businesses in our State and was against the Florida Seaport Security Bill and it continues to challenge the Environmental Protection agency with constant threats of law suits.

Please remember the employment background of our present Lake Worth candidates when you vote on June 28.

The two Democrats who jumped ship:

Rep Mack Bernard(D-West Palm Beach)
– Crossed party lines during a highly charged and divisive legislative session to support much-needed insurance and legal reform measures. Representative Bernard voted in support of measures that will increase competition and create a more predictable property insurance market and would have helped protect Florida businesses by putting an end to frivolous third party lawsuits.

Rep John Patrick Julien(D-North Miami Beach)
– Crossed party lines during a highly charged and divisive legislative session to support much-needed insurance and legal reform measures. Representative Julien voted in support of measures that will increase competition and create a more predictable property insurance market and voted in support of Florida Chamber-backed crash-worthiness legal reform bills.
