St. Patrick's Day Parade

A memory--March 17, 2013

Why LWB's annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade isn’t happening this year

But Denise Roeser, president of Wheels for Kids, the charity that had sponsored the parade since 2007, decided earlier this year it was “not feasible” for her nonprofit to continue hosting the event. It was costing them about $10,000.

The Lake Worth Beach Neighborhood Association Presidents Council intended to take over and host the parade. But those plans fell through earlier this month, causing confusion among many people who found out online in comment threads that offered plenty of speculation but no official reason for the late scrub.

What happened?

The answer depends on who you ask...and all very interesting.

Perhaps the City should sponsor it.

I don't think we need a parade. There is too much going on everywhere to indulge in this frivolity. It's not really a holiday, just a day to get drunk. What people have to do, is get serious about crime and drugs, not just let the Governor do all the work while we play the Grasshopper!

@7:28...perhaps. I was thinking people need a little fun in their lives, lives that are so hectic today with worry about paying their bills and putting food on he table, etc.

Fun! That's all they do is have fun. Maybe you want they should only work 24 hours a week, 32 hours is too much!

Have you lost your mind?

@8:05...I don't think people are having a lot of fun in life at the moment. The ONLY people who have "lost their minds" are Democrats, Socialists and Communists who believe we should spread the rewards of our hard work around to losers and work 4 days a week for the same amount of money.
