Florida's Homeless Dilemma

New Florida law on where homeless people can sleep could be costly for local governments

Local governments could be required to pony up big money to meet the demands of legislation Gov. Ron DeSantis signed barring homeless people from either camping or sleeping on public property.

The legislation, which takes effect on Oct. 1, requires local governments to designate a public space for camping or sleeping if shelter spaces are full. Local governments must also provide security, behavioral health services and bathrooms with running water, but Tallahassee is not sending additional money so that local governments can fulfill that mandate.

City officials are still looking into what the legislation, H.B. 1365, might mean for them.

So, what will Lake Worth Beach, that has tons of homeless as well as Palm Beach County, do?

With more and more illegals being dumped into our state, every city will have a huge expensive problem. Perhaps DeSantis can ship them to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

We'll all wind up paying higher taxes for it. Thanks a lot, Ron.

Awh, it's all about you!
Homeless costs the cities plenty already. We don't pay a state income tax. He's not going to raise the sales tax. So, take it up with one of your Democrat friends.

The homeless sleeping in public cost many already. How many avoid going to downtown areas because the homeless disturb the patrons? Who wants to sit at a table and watch a homeless sleeping on the bench nearby? Who wants to bring our kids to the parks where the homeless are laying on top of the picnic tables? We pay extra to travel to the places where the homeless dont wander freely.

The homeless belong in an institution. This is where they used to be, until the do-gooders decided to save money and let them out on the street.

There are good places to go for help. Not the park, or in doorways.

Jim Cramer went through a period where he was living in his car. It happens to people.
