So last night at the debate Candidatr Gary says he wants to get rid of PBSO and bring back LWPD.

And early this morning at 2am PBSO swarmed about 24 cops around he Checkers on 6th and Dixie, along with chopper in the air to hunt down some bad guys from Delray who crashed then fled the scene.

Thank you PBSO for having the resources to pull 24 cops and a chopper to out scalene when it is necessary.

Poor Gary doesn't understand that if we still
had LWPD there would be 5 cops on duty at one time in that whole city... And no chopper.

We live in a multimunicipity area and bad guys don't care if they change jurisdictions. PBSO needs to stay in LW. Gary has no clue what is actually going on and his answers last night speak volumes. Gary has to go.

The truth of the matter is--we had/have all of these resources when we had our own police department. We pay for them today on our county taxes. We had the use of SWAT, helicopters and any resource they can provide.

Gary was still the only candidate who said he would go back to our own Police Department.

You are right in theory Lynn. However in reality LWPD would have those resources only when and if made available to them. Sheriff would have to prioritize their jurisdictions first. And when employed was delayed in order to get approvals.

When we pay over $15 million a year, the most per capita for a municipality under PBSO, and one of the highest crime cities around, I would imagine that we should be able to DEMAND services when needed. The sheriff is a graduate from LW high school. I think he knows where the crime is and it's in Lake Worth and out of control.

This commission instead of being a cheerleader for PBSO, needs to demand better service and more attention to do what's necessary to stop the escalating crime.

Earlier today, PBSO attempted to apprehend car thieves at the Checkers Restaurant on South Dixie. The bad guys made a run for it and struck another vehicle before fleeing on foot. Last I heard, they were still at large. Unfortunately, that location has long been a crime hotspot, and something should have been done about it long ago. The chain needs to step up and put an armed guard at that location. If they are unwilling to address the problem, perhaps we should exercise existing city ordinances to close them down. Once again, our city majority either is unaware of the problem, or simply doesn't care enough to tackle the issue head on. Either way, it's high time we did more to keep our city residents safe! I will do just that, because turning a blind eye on the problem only lets the bad guys win!

So I guess we should also close Burher King and also crime spots, TooJays and the Public Library? Armed guards all over town? Just because is closed down, doesn't mean crime would go down, would think it would increase. Maybe if there was more street lighting in the area would help.

Is this news because the Name Hudson was in the article?

@10:44. LOL
We need better lighting on Federal Highway?

Dare you to try walking 6th Avenue east from Checkers at night at 8:00 at night. As soon as you get east of Dixie.

Great idea? Arm all fast food restaurants with armed guards? Maybe get the community to open the door to devolopers and Lake Worth shine. Delray did a good job, Key West did a good job. Guess you just want our little town to renain cheap, don't want your taxes to go up.

If you have so much to say, anonymous, why not show yourself? People who hide behind anonymity strike me as mud-slinging cowards. Those who are willing to be seen and heard, "mean" what they say, not say what is "mean"-ingless. And as far as Checkers goes, perhaps you should get your facts straight. The place closes late at night. Once the staff clears out, it's a mecca for crime. If you spent any time on the south side of town, you'd know that. You wouldn't happen to be a member of the voting majority by chance? That would certainly explain a lot.

We missed you last night and we think people who don't show up at debates are coward as well... Careful ms Jacques your big reveal is close at hand.

Business should not have to hire armed security guards. Who's gonna pay for that Diane? Prices at these business would have to go up and their business are likely to fade because people will simply go to Boynyon or West Palm to shop, eat, etc where the additional costs aren't passed along to consumers.

Why not just advocate open carry be the rule of the land? Our fine Gov Scott is championing that idea... Ya know there are towns across this country that require a homeowner own a weapon. Hmmm and wouldn't you know it they enjoy really low crime rates.

Awe. Still hiding, eh? As for last night, some of us have real commitments. As for you, if you have nothing better to do than show up at these things and attempt to trash and smear anyone who opposes the voting majority, it doesn't say much for you or your candidates. Just for the record, I teach on Monday nights. And as far as education goes, based on your misspelling of Burger King in your earlier post, you might benefit from getting a little more of it yourself. On the voting majority, if they can't get re-elected based on their record in office -- feel they must to rely upon smear campaigns orchestrated by cowards who won't reveal themselves -- then perhaps they don't deserve to be in office. As for me, I have no intention of continuing this "so called" conversation. If you really believe the things you say, why are you scared to reveal your identity? Good luck with the smearing. I'm done with it. Maybe if your candidates had fixed the broken streets, dealt with the urban decay and worked with PBSO to address crime, they wouldn't need to rely upon anonymous smears for re-election. Just sayin.

Well and truly spoken, Ms. Jacques. It's too bad the organizers of the debate didn't check with the candidates to see if they would be available. I would have liked to see you take on your opponent and bring attention back to the real issues that face anyone who lives in LW. I'm talking about being approached by panhandlers in broad daylight, the parade of prostitutes up and down Dixie Highway, the pot holes that are almost deep enough to swallow a small dog. These are the things that distract from the quirky charm of Lake Worth. There's nothing charming about a vagrant stretched out on a bench in Bryant Park or a rain filled pothole that is invisible until the car slams into it. Please let's stay on target and drop the half-baked innuendos.

Checkers can afford to reduce crime. Small businesses in the area do. How have we had 4 years of the same people in office with no change? Our streets are embarrassing. Code enforement is non-existent. There are homeless everywhere with little to no help. There are more and more rehabs opening daily. Crime is on the rise. Small businesses on Lake and Lucerne are closing again. PBSO can only do so much. They are there to enforce the law. Not fix our streets or fix the homeless problem. We have to have proper and sensible representation for that. Not private meetings managed by people who could care less about the average citizen.

Dear Ms jacques, You will meet me on the campaign trail volunteering for Ms. Pam. Sorry if I spelt Burger King wrong. Can say I'M sure I have a bettet education than you do.BTW are you a taxpayer in Lake Worth?

Lynn Anderson said...

@10:04pm...I'm convinced that you have a better education than she has...I mean you, anonymous, said it so it must be so. And as far as owning a home in LW, wasn't it Pam Triolo who twice now has stated that she is the ONLY person who owns her home who is running...the ONLY one. She got that one wrong too.

Anonymous said...

So, is Ms. Jacques a taxpayer?

Lynn Anderson said...

Ask Andy that question.
Can we get back to the real issues?

Diane said...

Get your facts straight, bro. The homes, at least where the tax records are concerned, are owned by my fiancee Ray Harris and my mother and done this way for personal reasons. Funny you left that part out. But then again, the voting majority hopes to get re-elected based on smears, half truths and innuendos. In actual fact, there are two separate homes on the property. We live in one and my mother lives in the other. Still hiding behind anonymity, I see. Why should anyone listen to you when you aren't committed enough to your own statements to make them on the record? Now, can we get back to the real issues? The broken streets, the urban decay and the rising crime? These posts are designed to be a distraction from the real problems that have been ignored by the voting majority for far too long. Perhaps if their minions sling mud and attempt to draw attention away from the issues, no one will notice the potholes, drug dealers, and boarded up homes? Fat chance. They've had years to address these issues, but didn't. It's time for a change. Just sayin...
