Eminent Domain on Boutwell Road

Comment Up

Eminent Domain at the Park of Commerce is costing the city $41,637.50 which includes the owner's legal fees--a very small price for the city to pay for a land grab.

All of the property is owned and controlled by Palm Beach Mobile Home Park, LLC and Palm Beach Home Sales, LLC. As part of the negotiations to acquire the properties and the eminent domain proceedings filed by the city, the owner(s) incurred legal fees for which the City is responsible to cover in addition to the actual appraised value of the land.

This has been placed on the Consent Agenda on Tuesday's meeting.

The Boutwell Road Infrastructure Project Capital account 304-5020-541.63-15 was funded in the amount of Eight Million Seven Hundred Thousand dollars ($8,700,000) for FY 2016. The approved budget included funds for the acquisition of required rights of way.

Good going "visionaries."  We can't fix the potholes but we can build a field of dreams and you all can have fun at the Grand Ole Opry.

Vice Mayor Maxwell's ties to the Republican party and the League of Cities (Anti- Citizen League) are shining through his commitment to this waste of taxpayer money to enable developers to purchase land at a bargain rate.
Interested developers could have been forced to pay for improvements to land they purchase, and land owners could have been negotiated down to cover the cost of necessary improvements.
Sock it to the citizens since they voted down the 34 year tax strangulation of his beloved 30 year bond.
He needs to be voted out and replaced by a new person with a vision more in keeping with the desires of the majority, and more even tempered and respectful of the citizens who attend meetings and his fellow Commissioners McVoy and Maier.

Please do NOT forget that it was a Republican governor who just turned down their request for $3.5 million for the Park of Commerce. Republicans are usually fiscally responsible.

Maxwell is currying favor in order to rise in the ranks of the Republican party.
Most politicians, particularly in Florida, (a sunny place for shady people) R D or I wind up in the pockets of corrupting developers.

There are shady, self-serving people in both Parties--take Hillary Clinton as a prime exampl4e.

What we need are jobs for the people of Lake Worth!

The POC is one of the most reasonably priced commercial/industrial zones areas in all of metro South Florida,, but still there are some infrastructure needs that need to be addressed.

A little bird told me that the state $ for the POC is still in play -so stay tuned... There is a success story brewing at the POC even thought it's not common knowledge... It's called negotiations and as with such endeavors, business entities keep these affairs close to their chests lest they reveal their strategies to their competitiors... Things will.be announced all in due time.

There are a couple of new business entities coming to downtown! Yippie
