PBSO to snag Ocean Ridge next?

Comment Up

Of course the police officers in Ocean Ridge want to go with PBSO.  They will get higher salaries, cheaper medical insurance and they get to take their car home every night. And of course, Bradshaw is giving them a "deal" that they can't refuse to snag them into his fold.

PBC has 38 municipalities. With functions like Police, I would think that the economies of scale resulting from combining should be seriously considered.
Even if we didn’t have serious Budget problems, it would seem duplication of Sr. Positions should be sacrificed for additional capabilities afforded by more officers on the street and equipment not available to small municipalities.

The PBSO has become a force to reckon with...a government onto itself with the taxpayers footing the exorbitant and escalating costs caused by primarily pension benefits, ungodly salaries and benefits. I think any city should stand up for its own police force and control expenditures going forward. Cities get many of the PBSO benefits through county advalorem anyway.

I am not voting ever again for Bradshaw, we need someone new. I am tired of all these politics in our public safety.

While I think that it makes sense for municipalities to consider PBSO mergers, it really doesn't make any sense for the tax payors. We pay palm beach county taxes and we pay lake worth taxes, we are paying double for PBSO and Bradshaw won't cut his budget ever. I'm tired of the scare tactics and the idea that PBSO needs an ever increasing budget (and very, very expensive personnel costs, i.e. pensions and health care for police officers that can retire at their highest rates including overtime) when our population is down and crime is down (crime is down all over the country for a variety of reasons, it has nothing to do with Bradshaw and his power hungry force).

I won't be voting for Bradshaw either.
