Shanon Materio asks for Civility from Residents

Comment Up
Gee, just when I thought Lake Worth held the number one spot for the most impolite residents --

Commissioner Shanon Materio wants those who speak before the West Palm Beach city commission meetings to be more civil. It seems that there are some residents who are HOT and sizzling on certain topics.  Read more...

I guess Lake Worth is not unique here.

Materio has a lot of nerve asking for civility from ANYONE after all of the underhanded things she was involved in in Lake Worth.Good riddance to the mobsters daughter.Let her pluck the pigeons in West Palm Beach.

Nana na naaa, nana naaa na ,hey hey hey goodbye-to Materio and good riddance!Thank you West Palm for being stupid enough to take her off of our hands! Now on to a very important topic for all of us here in Lake Worth-Our city Commission has become unsustainable. These Commissioners are costing the city way too much money. We need to do away with them.IN THESE TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES,WE CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP THINGS THAT DON'T PAY FOR THEMSELVES.The city Commission certainly doesn't pay for itself. They just cost the taxpayers money. We need to close the Lake Worth City Commission.

The #1 FEAR over Death is Public Speaking! Tough enough to do then a commish says:

"I think when the message is delivered in such a disrespectful way we have a tendency to stop listening."

Pleeeeaaaassssseee...Stab me in the eye with a fork!

You are an EMPLOYEE and Your JOB is to LISTEN to everyone and everything. Then do ONLY what is
#1 asked of you to do, by great majority of we the people.
#2 and you are Constitutionally allowed or AUTHORIZED to do!

Most elected do as they please, whenever they please and then tell US to 'talk nice' or 'shut up' when their ACTIONS tick us off!?!?

(Talking about "Ticked Off" - Read the Declaration of Independence and why we got ticked at the King. We proved it by submitting the FACTS to a candid world and separated ourselves from him!)

Elephant in the room:
This "civility speak" is a Delphi Technique washed in some Saul Illinsky.

'Name them and shame them'. Use your power to monopolize and change the conversation, talk over them (because you have the mic on the dais with no one to stop ya), question the content of their speech - forcing them off topic and becoming defensive or better yet - Silent.

So I ask...

Where's the 'Bully B Gone' spray We The People need to apply to ALL Elected Officials!?

We would never accept this type of behavior from our other relationships in our lives (kids, partner, boss) why do we PUT UP w/this from people we elected to REPRESENT US?

Would be interesting to know what Materio's comments were when LW enacted a civility clause. She has been disrespectful to commissioners many times. Just goes to show . . . what goes 'round, comes 'round.

Suck it up, Materio. You're a public servant now, still appointed not elected. You deserve a dose of your own medicine. Can't wait to write a check to whoever mails hit pieces on you when you decide to speak out the other side of your mouth and run for re-appointment.

This gal is a piece of work, she should talk, her and her hubby run a a shop and manipulate the public, their prices are way too high. Now trying to win 250K grant, what a joke, they are greedy and control freaks, they never want the public to have a say, it is all their control and power, they do that in the NA where their businesses is and the entire city,k pretending to give and do so much for the city, what are their real motives? This couple are losing so much respect now in our community with their public now. Their truth and history are catching up to them.

To nearly all of the above - what are you smoking? The Materios have never been anything but up front, good solid citizens and have a business in LW that we should all be proud of. They've been involved in this town, they've participated in a big way. You may not like their views, but at least they take the time to try and make a difference here. They don't sit home and whine on blogs.
And as for their stained glass business - it's a hallmark for LW - there are very few studios that practice the art of stained glass any longer - just a handful on the East coast.
I wonder what you all do to contribute? (especially anon at 12:12 - sheesh...take a Xanax already)

The stained glass biz that's still in business despite the bad economy, never anybody in the store-guess Shannon learned all about taking care of business at her Daddy's knee.
