As a reference, Table 1 and Notes were included in the backup for the June 19, 2012, City Commission Meeting on pages 250 and 251 and combined on the “Revised Summary Table 1” found on page 274. The referenced documents do NOT show the proposed up-zoning of the area around Pinecrest Cemetery from Single Family Residential (SFR) Land Use Category/ Single Family Residential 7 du/acre (SFR) Zoning District to Medium Density Residential (MDR) Land Use Category/ Single-Family and Two-Family Residential 14 du/acre (SF-TF-14) Zoning District. However, the Medium Density Residential Land Use Category also includes the Low Density Multi-Family Residential 20 du/acre (MF-20) Zoning District, which would allow the Commission to further up-zone that area to the maximum zoning allowed under the Land Use Category of 20 du/acre.

I watched the video and understand the board's frustration. I am not one who thinks the P&Z Board speaks for me and I think the commission acted without staff recommendation.
They did act with input from the P&Z Board AND the HRPB which sounds as though they were very different. The majority went with the HRPB recommendation instead of the P&Z recommendation.
I personally think the commission lowered the maximum heights plenty but agree with the P&Z Board that the POC should be higher than 65 feet.
Keeping maximum heights so low promotes urban sprawl and slum.
Also one member, I don't know who she is, said that she really doesn't know what the public really wants from what she had heard and THAT is why she thought it should go to a vote of the people. "Some people want 6 stories and some want one story".

The real question is exactly what do you consider "insensitive" development. Want a train station? Not going to get it with out the walk over at 65 feet but no reason why the buildings can't stay at 45.
Could never hurt Mr. Max to let the people vote just make sure they get the right information on how Comp plans work with LDR's...
Flat lining any city is just not the answer either. The Last P&Z had very good recommendations but it looks like some did not want to go with that because of the usual political B.S. to pay back those they don't agree with.
