Republican Club of Palm Beach County

Francisco Rodriguez, reading The Constitution

Thursday night Katie and I attended the Republican Club of Palm Beach County's meeting at Atlantis Country Club. I wanted to hear Francisco Rodriguez, an expert on the U.S. Constitution, who was guest speaker and who gave an informative speech. Francisco ran in the Republican Primary for State Rep District 83 losing to Pat Rooney in 2010.

Francisco asked, "How is our country doing? We need someone to turn the wheel around."

All in attendance got a copy of the Constitution from The Heritage Foundation. Richard McAdmas who is the Director of Major Gifts, Florida, one of the Heritage departments, spoke briefly telling us that 4 years ago, they had 280,000 members which is now up to over 700,000.

Founded in 1973, The Heritage Foundation is a research and educational institution—a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.

It was a most informative evening and on top of everything else, Katie and I both won a door prize! I won a book. Actually it is three novels in one by Nelson DeMille, one of my favorite authors--and I haven't even finished Ted Brownstein's book yet, Sunshine Republic. This is another thing you can learn from dogs--take the time to smell the roses.

Next month's meeting will be speaker Murray Sabrin - "The Case for Zero taxation."
