Lake Worth, A Sanctuary City?

Lake Worth is listed as a Sanctuary City although the city administration (Mike Bornstein) responded to my inquiry on this last month and said that there has never been a Resolution claiming that status. More and more illegal aliens live in Lake Worth and PBSO won't stop any of them unless they are committing a crime or there is a warrant for their arrest.

Even if we don't give benefits to these illegals who reside here nor do we get any money from the federal government, we are still on the list naming Lake Worth as a city that gives sanctuary to illegal aliens. Lake Worth's population is now at 39.5% Hispanic and many of these people are illegal and speak no English. They have committed a crime by walking into our country undocumented.

We now need to go forward and have a written policy and a Resolution that we are NOT a Sanctuary City. Then the city needs to e-mail OJJPAC (Sanctuary Cities PAC) at salvi@ojjpac.org stating that our city is NOT a Sanctuary City and get it removed from the list. Otherwise, we will continue to be known as a city that opens up its arms to illegals. This spreads rapidly in countries south of our border.

U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, one of the strongest advocates for immigration law enforcement in the U.S. Congress, has introduced Senate Bill 1640 (S. 1640) to address Sanctuary Cities.  Senator Sessions' bill also gives states and local governments the authority to enforce immigration laws. It is named the  Davis-Oliver Act, after two law enforcement officers who where murdered by illegal aliens in California.  Congressman Trey Gowdy has introduced a companion bill in the U.S. House (H.R. 1148).
