Florida Executive Order Launches State Investigation of Second Assassination Attempt on President Trump
Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 24-197 directing Florida’s law enforcement agencies
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) – to investigate the assassination attempt against President Donald Trump, refer violations of state law to the statewide prosecutor’s office for prosecution, and to surge resources to President Trump’s security detail needs in coordination with the former President and the Secret Service.“This deranged, would-be assassin broke Florida law, and we will not wait on the federal government to act,” said Attorney General Ashley Moody.
“Florida is launching its own investigation, and I have directed my statewide prosecutors to assist FDLE and FHP, as we work quickly to uncover the facts behind this latest attempt on President Trump’s life and provide trust and transparency to the American people.”
