Chuck Schumer doesn't like the term "Spygate"
On Monday, while most Americans were remembering the sacrifice of fallen service members, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., gave instruction to the mainstream media via tweet. The chief Democrat of the U.S. Senate wants President Donald Trump to be taken to task for using the term “Spygate” and insists that there is “absolutely no evidence of a spy” being placed in the 2016 Trump campaign. [Conservative Review]
According to the New York Times:
"F.B.I. Used Informant to Investigate Russia Ties to Campaign, Not to Spy, as Trump Claims"

Starbucks in Lake Worth
Starbucks closed its downtown Lake Worth location on Lake Avenue on Memorial Day...a day to remember. This politically correct corporation will open at the new building on North Dixie and 2nd Avenue North which will primarily be drive-through clientele. No one knows why they made this decision but personally I believe it is one huge gigantic mistake. I was worried about the traffic there but no one needs coffee that badly to use a drive-through. One thing for sure, it will probably cut down on their PC lessons or their worry about loitering or people coming just to use their bathrooms. Or maybe not.
Yes, people downtown care what's happening to Lake Avenue and wonder what's coming next. Lake Worth has allowed a tattoo parlor on Lake Avenue and on top of that, one development company seems to be buying up half the properties--raising rents--and shopkeepers are wondering if they can afford to be in our downtown. Pretty soon we will be nothing but bars, booze, vape and tattoos. The rental rates have been rising for years. Owners buy properties at inflated prices and then raise their rental rates to poor shop owners struggling to make a living.
That's what happened to Andy Amoroso who was forced out of his rented space having been there for years and a staple in our downtown. It's a damn shame what's going on.

An Eyesore and a Privileged Boat Owner
When it comes right down to it, many people get away with just about anything in this city. Gee officer, I have no where to park my boat...gee whiz--can I get a waiver? Well, why the hell not. And his car was parked on the lawn.
This particular property is on Akron Street. The trailer touches the road. The boat is bigger than the house. But it seems they got an approval from the City of Lake Worth.
FROM THE CITY:
Good afternoon Lynn, 128 Akron was approved. We currently have 8 approved Administrative approvals for Boats/RVs to be parked in the front yard. They are:
* 1226 15th Ave North
* 1715 N. Lakeside Drive
* 1614 N J Street
* 1026 N J Street
* 110 Wellesley Drive
* 525 N Palmway

Hogg - The Bully
The face you would like to smack
The kid is being promoted by the liberal left. He is against the Constitution, blames the NRA for school shootings, feels empowered by all the liberals egging him on, goes after Publix for a campaign donation to Adam Putnam and then Publix decides to suspend political donations. He went after Laura Ingraham on Fox News. Now he wants a "die-in" at a Trump hotel.
Hogg wants the age of gun ownership upped to 21 but in 47 states, the age of majority and the age at which a person has the legal rights and responsibilities of an adult—is 18. You can vote at age 18. If you are considered legally responsible at the age of 18, then why up the age for certain gun ownership? Why listen to the bully kid at all?

Cancel Senate August Recess
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is considering cancelling the
Senate's month-long August recess in order to get more work done. If
there’s one thing Republicans and Democrats can agree on, it’s that
Congress spends too much time away from Capitol Hill.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 72% of Likely U.S. Voters think Congress spends too much time on vacation. Twelve percent (12%) disagree, while 16% are not sure. [Rasmussen]
Good for Mitch McConnell. He should cancel the August recess. "Congress never allows its own bad behavior or lack of accomplishment to get in the way of its vacations and recesses,." says The Hill Let's get Trump's nominees confirmed and stop the political hijacking by Chuck Schumer. As of May 1, there were still 300 nominees awaiting Senate confirmation. Let's do the job you were elected to do Senators.

Memorial Day Services at Pinecrest Cemetery
Following are a few photos from yesterday's joint service with Vogel-Lee Post 47 American Legion, Auxiliary, SAL, Riders and Boy and Girl Scouts. I prayed that the weather would be good and as Father Quesnel Delvard of Sacred Heart Church said, "He heard you."
Mayor Pam Triolo gave a wonderful speech (she always does). Commissioners Scott Maxwell and Herman Robinson attended the service. Boy Scout Troop 204 decorated the graves with American flags.

David Hogg and his failed "Die-In"
David Hogg’s Assault on Publix Not Exactly the Victory He Expected
He's such a misinformed little guy. He wanted to extort $1 million from Publix for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Victim Fund or he would form protests at their stores everywhere.He was mad that Publix gave a campaign donation to Adam Putnam--Publix's right under the Constitution.. They essentially told him to "go stuff it." So, what did he do? He formed a "Die-In" protest at the Publix nearest the school. He wanted other protesters to follow suit at Publix stores across the nation. It didn't happen.
His protest ambitions failed but he did get Publix to change its policy on political donations--for the moment.
Personally, I believe all companies and corporations should stay out of politics in spite of the Supreme Court decision in 2010 that upheld the rights of corporations to make political expenditures under the First Amendment.

Al Sharpton, an honest to goodness Babtist minister, said the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who is biracial, is a sign that white supremacy is “on its last breath.”Sharpton spoke of the nuptials during his weekly National Action Network rally Saturday in Harlem as millions across the globe had their eyes transfixed on the over-the-top affair Saturday between Harry and Markle, whose mother is black and father is white.
Crooked Hillary
I really have to wonder why every single time I see Hillary out there talking to groups and at college commencements regarding her failed campaign, using the Russian narrative even pulling out a Russian hat at Yale and continuing to give her delusional reasons for that failure. You would think she would shut the heck up. But I guess the only audience she has left are naive college kids.
Donna Brazile, former DNC Chair, has been claiming Hillary took money from state parties to fund her second failed presidential campaign. Brazile revealed in an op-ed published in Politico Magazine that the DNC was broke and in serious debt all courtesy of former President Barack Obama by saying, .“Obama left the party $24 million in debt — $15 million in bank debt and more than $8 million owed to vendors after the 2012 campaign — and had been paying that off very slowly.”
Other revelations were that Hillary’s campaign fund known as Hillary for America, as well as the Hillary Victory Fund, a fundraising organization that worked hand in hand with the DNC had “taken care of 80 percent of the remaining debt in 2016, about $10 million, and had placed the party on an allowance.” [Redrightvideos.com

POINT OF VIEW
The Palm Beach Post
May 26, 2018
I agree with your premise, but I think it is important for people living here in South Florida to understand that there are no engineering solutions that will protect us completely from sea-level rise.
We need instead to restore the Everglades, and protect and restore wetlands as well as natural shorelines. We can also make sure our sewer systems have protection so that increasing water tables during storms will not force flooding up into our houses. Septic tanks may also be impacted by rising water tables.

We must accept that the drainage system that we have had in place for the past several decades may ultimately fail because it is based on the notion that sea level is downhill from the canal system, meaning all water pumped into canals will flow out to sea over time. This, in combination with storm surge, could put canal levels lower than the ocean. With incoming storm surge, the ocean could travel inland.
Engineering adjustments cannot change this fact. You cannot out-pump the ocean.
Because South Florida has an extremely porous land surface, berms and dikes such as work in the Netherlands will not work here. The ocean will push up under the dikes or around them. The expense of trying to build such a system would be a waste of money.
We can also not build sea walls to stop storm surge. The ocean will push up underneath these structures. They also provide a false sense of security. Natural shorelines with native plants such as mangroves that hold the soil provide a much better solution. Unfortunately, Florida continues to permit destruction of natural shorelines.
Florida also continues to permit building on the seaward side of the Coastal Construction Line (CCL). This means buildings are being built today that could be in the ocean during storm surge and high tide. This increases homeowner’s insurance policies and the cost of flood insurance.
The solution is to restore the Everglades in Central and South Florida so that fresh stormwater can be pumped to the center of the state, not into the ocean. Extensive treatment areas would be required to clean this water so it could flow south without damaging the sensitive Everglades National Park with too-high nutrient levels.
The influx of fresh water would raise the land levels in the center of the state as it hydrates the muck soils. Once clean this water would then flow downhill to Florida Bay as it did historically. This would raise the water table of fresh water that would act as a barrier to sea level rise. If canals did not exit to the ocean they could not be a conduit for sea water to flow inland. This is a new way of thinking that will require a new set of rules.
The second thing we need to do is stop building on open space and wetlands west of the coastal ridge. There are plenty of areas for infill, but we must protect the remaining ag and preserve areas.
These actions can protect us from storm surge and flooding when our existing canal system begins to fail.

Restore wetlands, natural shorelines to reduce threat

At the northwest corner of Congress and Melaleuca, 4469 S. Congress Suite 110, is a new restaurant, Ricco. This is the spot that used to be occupied by Napoli's. It is clean, bright and modern.
I stopped into Ricco today to see what was up and was greeted by its marketing manager. What a delightful guy as was all of the employees there. I went in to get a copy of their menu and every time I asked about a dish, I was given a sample. Today the special was chicken lasagna and was it ever delicious! This sells for $10.99 and it includes two sides. Drinks range from$1.85 for a soda to $3.50 for a Smoothie.
The food is primarily Latin and the cook showed me her pot of black beans (they looked yummy) and two different rices, yellow and white. But if you don't want a meal, you can order a sandwich or an appetizer.

Well, it may not be the 1950's mayor and I am from a different era, I still don't like a tattoo parlor in our downtown. It's insane. I don't like it any more than I like a Vape shop.We have enough crap down there without attracting people who want a tattoo.
And I don't care if you or anyone else has a little butterfly tattooed on your ankle, that is not the point. Sorry, these kind of businesses often times attract the sorriest of people. And it's on Lake Avenue in our downtown to take advantage of those who have that drunken impulsiveness (which is why many tattoo parlors are open late and why many people get tattoos).
I agree with Andy Amoroso, again, and Scott Maxwell on this one.
Is it possible to get some class in our downtown? A place where tourists will want to visit and spend some time and money? A tattoo parlor catering to the biker or body piercing crowd?--Come on, mayor--I can see it now.
As a local resident said, "The city wonders why there is so much crime and so few paying any taxes--we're attracting the wrong crowd, on purpose."

Lake Worth Beach Has Re-Opened for Guests
Lake Worth, Florida - The Lake Worth Beach has received a satisfactory water quality report and is now re-opened to receive guests.
The Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County conducts saltwater beach water quality samplings on a bi-weekly basis as part of the Florida Healthy Beaches Monitoring Program. The City is pleased to announce the all-clear and to welcome visitors back to the Lake Worth Beach.

Seattle's "Eat the Rich" strategy
Read about it... and the Socialist city commission in Seattle that voted to bite the hand that feeds them, the hand that has given them a very high standard of living (the 11th largest metropolitan economy in the United States) with economic development and jobs, the hand that laid the golden egg.
Seattle continues to go down the socialist path with its minimum-wage law (a law that has punished its poorest citizens), gun tax (shootings are skyrocketing since that tax) and their vote on a special income tax on the wealthy. Being wealthy to socialists is a sin but they need them to continually bail them out for lousy government decisions.
It always astounds me and I will never understand socialism. It never has worked. It never will.
This used to be a great city as was San Francisco when I lived out that way nearly 50 years ago. Now it's just Senseless and Socialist and un-cool.

He said he was going to transform America. And during his presidency, he was responsible for more crazies than we ever could have imagined. Just look at California, Oregon and Washington and they're not even on the list when you consider GDP. Look at New York. Florida is ranked #6 as one of the least socialist states.

Trump Reverses Obama's prison guidelines on transgenders
Trump Scraps Obama-Era Rule on Prison Housing for Transgenders
This is going to drive some liberals bonkers especially in this city--Personally I am concerned about this and have mixed feelings on this subject. Perhaps separate cell blocks for men and women transgenders? Prisons are full of violent people and no one should be subjected to more than they deserve by just being sentenced in the first place.Four biological women prisoners in Texas filed a law suit--they say it is cruel and unusual punishment as well as a violation of their bodily rights, to have biological men sharing their cell and bathroom.
President Trump is reversing Obama's guidelines..
Barack Obama set down guidelines mandating that prisons house inmates according to gender identity, allowing transgender men and women access to the cell blocks and bathrooms of their choice. President Trump has now totally reversed these guidelines.[ConservativeZone]

Sober Homes - Bullsh*t - Amoroso commended
John Oliver calls ‘bullsh*t’ on scam of unregulated rehab centers that claim cures while sending patients off to die
"Lake Worth County Commissioner Andy Amoroso went so far as to urge people to 'stop sending your loved ones to south Florida, because we’re sending them home in bodybags'.“Holy sh*t,” was Oliver’s response. “That is the worst, and yet, possibly the most honest tourism slogan for Florida I’ve ever heard.”

Where's the 2017 Audit for Lake Worth?
Where's the audit that is produced by our External Auditors?
It seems to get later and later every year. Our fiscal year ended September 30, 2017. So, how many months is that and we still don't have the audit? What's the hold-up? AGAIN?!
The external auditor just audits information provided to him/them BY the city. They don't do any investigative work to see if the numbers jive but if they see any irregularities or illegal acts they will make a written report to the Finance Director. (We don't have a finance director yet!)
Last year's Audit found $7 million in questioned costs at Lake Worth Water Utility
It was reported by this blog over two years ago that the inspector General was investigating Lake Worth. At that time, the city manager Michael Bornstein gave an explanation as to why he didn't respond to the IG's survey of 2014: “I’m on my fourth finance director in 4½ years,” Bornstein said. “Organizationally, we’re still not where we need to be … but we’re improving.” It's amazing that we get so much bull.
The City has so much money to account for now with the General Obligation Bond and all the rest of the funky stuff like Siemens. Commissioner Maxwell doesn't like the word "transparency"...believes it's abused. Well, I can't find one audit on the city's web site for any year. Are you interested in the Audit, commissioners? And on top of that, there are no minutes this year for the Citizens Advisory Committee-Road bond, a committee that rarely meets to review all expenditures from the bond proceeds for improving local roadways
And where is our Internal Auditor? He's like a gossamer wing--unnoticeable. We never hear from this guy. And we still do not have a Finance Director so that makes it five directors Bornstein has lost? I wrote to the Assistant Finance Director to inquire about the Audit for 2017 and was told that it is not finalized yet.

Trump keeps another campaign promise
Trump Keeps A MAJOR Campaign Promise; Will Create Huge Job Increase With This Move
We have never had a presidential candidate keep so many promises. Now, and in less than a year and a half, President Trump has kept many of them despite opposition from Democrats and a few Republicans, hence most of his accomplishments were ones he negotiated and enacted on his own.This week he kept a major promise by negotiating a deal with China to greatly reduce the 370 billion dollar trade deficit between the two countries, when China agreed to not only buy more goods from the United States, including food crops and manufactured goods but will also address the problem of China stealing the intellectual property of American companies. David Hogg and The Dumb and Dumber
David Hogg is against assault rifles. Herman Robinson, commissioner in Lake Worth is against them too. In fact, the entire Lake Worth Commission had a proclamation banning assault weapons--the dumb and dumber.
But--Santa Fe High School, which left 10 dead, was carried out with a pistol and a shotgun — firearms that even gun-control advocates generally regard as utilitarian.

Quote of the Day - Marco Rubio
“It’s a mistake. I’ve told that to the White House, I’ve told that to
the president, and I’m going to tell him again. ZTE has nothing to do
with trade, nothing.
The Chinese use their telecom companies to spy on us. They are trying to put us out of business. They steal our secrets, they reverse engineer the things that we do. Their goal is to dominate telecommunications and all technology in the world and they are doing it by stealing from us. We should not be helping them.”
~ Marco Rubio
Although we have no idea of what quid pro quo or juggling act is going on behind the scenes, I agree with Rubio on this one. China is our number one enemy.
