POINT OF VIEW: Prison evacuations may not be enough for Florida

By: PANAGIOTI TSOLKAS, LAKE WORTH

Read known anarchist's Op-Ed piece...and his concern about prisoner rights. One of his concerns was not releasing prisoners during the hurricane and considers it possible cruel and unusual punishment!

Where are these released prisoners supposed to go ahead of a hurricane and how are they going to afford to get there? We don't have the state and county manpower to review and speed up paroles ahead of the storm. We could do a better job of getting rid of prisoners before a storm. Like deporting the thousands of illegal immigrants that the tax payers are paying for now in our system. But the author and his friends do not want deportations. So,stay out of Florida prisons or you might find yourself living in crowded conditions for awhile. Just like all of the innocent ,law abiding folks in hurricane shelters have to endure.

Prisoners have rights like air conditioning during a hurricane?

Air conditioning is not a right. Just ask all the folks living in Lake Worth.

Prisoners need our prayers. It would be nice to see more clergy do more for the people in prison. Nice that Peter wants to help them. WE need law and order here, a lot don't want that anymore and end up in jail. If jail can reform some, great, we all deserve second chances. Sounds like Peter cares about prisoners now. Hope he is making a difference in this world. What does he do? Does he have a job and work and make money to support his family? Or does he live off the government too like a lot of prisoners do? Wasn't his father some well educators professor or somebody famous? What happened to Peter? Is he still with Cara? You don't see him in the news as much anymore getting arrested like he used to? Did he learn a lot when he was in jail and now has a passion for the prisoners?

Everyone needs prayers. However, most prisoners don't need my sympathy. They are housed, fed, live in a/c and get medical...live better than some of our poor or homeless.

As far as Peter is concerned, I haven't seen him around. From what I know, he and Cara are still together...they now have two children. That can change someone. Don't know a thing about his personal life. He and Cara are both bright, young passionate people who care about people.

I don't think he was in jail more than a few hours. He still cares deeply about our environment.
