Obama ordered that Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz, a key figure overseeing riot control at the inauguration, will be removed from command Jan. 20, 12:01 p.m., just as Trump is sworn in as president.
“I’m a soldier,” he said. “I’m a presidential appointee. Therefore, the president has the power to remove me.”
According to Business Insider, about 30 groups, almost all of them anti-Trump, have gotten permits to protest before, during and after the inauguration. Thousands of demonstrators also have vowed to shut down the inauguration, including by closing off security checkpoints along the inaugural parade route.
