Maxwell to run again

Comment Up

2016 General Election | Candidates
Mayor | Candidates

District 1 - Commissioner | Candidates
Scott Maxwell
Maxwell is the only candidate, thus far, to have registered for the 2016 election. Now we understand why he was quiet this past Tuesday--playing it safe--and you will see a more subdued Maxwell going forward. Even the mayor is part of this "re-invention of Maxwell" by disallowing commissioners to speak to the public directly after public commentary. Generally this is the section where Maxwell loses his cool.

Let the games begin.

"...the biggest racists in town, in this room, have walked the streets, have talked about social justice and all the other people in this room have not seen the overt racism that has gone on in our city for years. Look at the western side in this community. You talk about environmental racism--why do you think there's no streets on the west side of town or the south end of town. I have been talking about infrastructure for 15 years... The very people who shot down the Lake Worth 2020 Plan [the general obligation bond] are the very people and the biggest racists in town."

~ Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell

I am not a fan of Maxwell. We need to fix our infrastructure, it is practically third world and hurts any chance of private investment. The comm. roll out of their remedy was pie in the sky{not practical] for a poor city. Lynn, your blog seems to be a voice of the opposition to this comm. But sometimes your behavior is deplorable. You have become everything you dislike about this majority. Just because you own this blog does not give you lisence to be rude, sarcastic, and enjoy dressing down successful people even when they are on point.

This is opinion and obviously you disagree with what I say?

What behavior? Rude? Sarcastic? I am getting a point across...sorry you don't like it.

You are as rude as you believe I am to be by stating your opinion above. Are we even now?

Next time, comment under your real name otherwise what you say and your personal attacks are a waste of time. Read policy.

I can't stand this bully commission. So?

To the anony poster at 9am, what is it you want? do you just want everyrone to shut the hell up and let this commission take advantage of every resident here? Hudson Holdings my azz. Anderson & Carr, the other deadbeats that never rented the 2nd floor space. We should be considering any of these people? It's a big joke. Thank goodness there is a voice on the other side of politics in this god forsaken and corrupt town.

10:01 you will never be part of any solution. Our commission is inept and not qualified to lead this city. I do not believe they are corrupt. Your remarks are plain dumb.

This certainly is a disappointing blog. Just name calling and hyperbole. Never a solution only statements not based in any fact.

Lynn Anderson said...

Well, you got to exercise your right to name call, anonymous at 10:46. Way to go with a solution.
Gosh, who is this? One of the "visionaries?" How disappointing can you get?

Comm Maxwell has my vote.

Maxwell, I'm still waiting for your apology for calling me and over 50% of the voters in Lake Worth RACISTS ! Katie Mcgiveron

I really don't think Maxwell has a prayer. No one's going to forget in a few months time that he called all of us- the MAJORITY- racists!!

Lynn -- Can you give us some of Maxwell's background? I hear he worked at Burger King. Does anyone know if he used to pour oil into our storm drains?? If this is BK common practice, I think the question needs to be asked! Just sayin.

the reason no one is running is because they are so depressed they can't even sell their homes to get out because of all the short sells they won't make a dime -its a shi- hole that people are so deep in they have no other options -it full of trashy homes-drug addicts-homeless and its been like this for decade after decade with no improvement in sight--the poor don't want big development ,but they are the cities lifeline--i guess a lot of you must be use to leaving around trash all your life-maxwell has nothing better to do with his life-he has been a big failure

if maxwell did work for burger king i guess he never moved up the chain--being a commissioner in lake worth you might as well work for burger king thats why not to many want to embarrass themselves and say they have anything to do with this run down backward city with people who can't figure anything out

Venting seems to be what drives this blog. If someone has lived here for decades and just makes mindless complaints they are part of the problem. So 8:36 get off your ass and do something.

Lynn Anderson said...

People move here with certain expectations--that their city will be clean and crime contained as an example and that they will be safe. It is not their job TO DO SOMETHING although many do go out on crime walks and are alert in their neighborhoods. That is the job of the City government and the PBSO.
People need to vent (although that is not what "drives this blog"), particularly as this commission does not want to listen. Maxwell wants to run again and he isn't even minutely close to fulfilling his promise the first time around--reducing the slum and blight.

Lynn, JFK said ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country. Boy, those were the days. Kinda kicks your "TO DO SOMETHING" square in the ass Lynn.

Unpaved roads=racism? I know several affluent white folks who are fighting to keep the streets in their neighborhoods UNPAVED.

One neighborhood is losing its battle so a few residents are selling before the city (south of us) completely invades their piece of paradise.

This may have nothing to do with what goes on in LW; I'm just saying the association with racism is silly.

Lynn Anderson said...

9:32--give examples of what you're talking about. We have to bring awareness to what's going on in our own city,in our own country if we are ever to get any meaningful change.
What do you do beside walking for crime?
JFK was right. Those were the days when I believed in the Democratic Party--when people actually had pride in themselves and in their country without existing with their hands out and expecting the government to take care of them from cradle to grave.

Lynn, I am sure this is Scott himself attacking and saying all these nasty things about you and your blog. He is the one that does nothing and most do not respect him. This city is still 3rd world and he has been a commissioner twice, does nothing! It is no wonder why people buy and sell in this city, they have hopes things will get better, they never do so they move out, how long can people live in all this blight, crime, and ineffective leadership? Scott is the problem and DOES NOTHING AS AN ELECTED OFFICIAL! He and the CM are both a huge part of the problem now in this city.

McVoy and Amoroso are not apart of the problem. Both of them are constantly working for the city on top of their respective jobs. Can't blame everyone up there.
