Common Ground Church issues Prayer Alert

Comment Up

Pastor Mike Olive: "Prayer Alert:

Please be praying for Common Ground Church. We will be going before the Lake Worth Magistrate this week. Pray that we will walk in humility, boldness and favor. Pray for our cities."

As everyone knows, the church was cited by Lake Worth for not having a business license to conduct church services at their coffee shop. A commissioner in the downtown supposedly turned them in and the city wanted them to fill out a form for an "accessory use." The city mentioned "safety concerns" and "non-compliance with ADA." Olive went ahead and paid the $160 for the Accessory Use request. He already had a use and occupancy permit at that location for the coffee shop.

Special Magistrate Hearing - Code Compliance
When: Thu, May 28, 9am – 1pm
Where: Commission Chambers, 7 North Dixie Highway, Lake Worth

If humility would have been the guide for this little church, then the ego that drives their pastor to seek the guidance and attention he craves via the news media would not have been necessary. Their situation could have been handled with grace and humility through the normal channels as business people do. Thank God that the media storm has lost interest with such a non-story other than Lynn's blog. Amen......

Standing up for what is right is the guide for anyone, whether it is a citizen, a company or a church.

This couldn't be handled in the normal channels when an anonymous commissioner turned them into code enforcement and told them they had better not open this church in the downtown.

If no one is interested and this in such a non-story, why are you bothering to comment? Perhaps a little humility for you and less hypocrisy---could go a long way.

Mike Olive is a billboard for hypocrisy.

Now we have some yo yo discriminating against a preacher. Can anything be worse than that in Lake Worth? It is no wonder that the entire church continues to pray for this city.

He made a claim that he had a gun pulled on him outside his coffee shop, but no police report to be found?

oh the magistrate that works for the city - you'll be treated fairly...enough...to keep her paycheck! Code also works for the city too...hummmm how about going in front of a jury of your peers and correct bad law? Has the ADA and Fireman visited your accusers place yet? Fire trap for sure and no way a wheel never mind a whole wheel chair could get in there...what's up w/that?

It's scary to walk by there at times.

Are you talking about that nightclub with all the drunks?

7:51 sounds like the bully with his Christophobia. Gays want the church to be tolerant and this one is. So, what's your problem?

Prayer Works, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.

Lets talk about hypocrisy, the coffee shop/church has to follow the same rules as everyone else. They continue to park their vehicle on Lake Ave for hours with an arrow pointing to their location. Other businesses have been cited for doing the exact same thing.

Not to mention the van cut me off driving at an excessive rate of speed on the highway. Now thats not very church-like is it?
