$40.7 million more in taxes to Palm Beach County

Comment Up

Not only is Lake Worth trying to stick it to you, but you will be paying higher taxes to the County. The PBSO is trying to take most of this revenue increase by asking for $22 million more and analysts figure the sheriff’s budget would actually increase by $32.6 million when other increases are taken into account. Scott Maxwell threw the residents a bone last night when he said, as property values rise, give it back to the taxpayers by way of a millage reduction.  Hold his feet to the fire.

County’s new budget: Same tax rate, higher prop values = higher taxes

By Christine Stapleton

Palm Beach County’s tax rate will not increase under the $1.1 billion 2015 budget proposal released this morning. Although the tax rate would remain the same, tax bills could rise for property owners whose taxable value has increased, which is likely since the overall taxable value for all cities and the unincorporated county has increased since last year. The proposal is balanced at the current tax rate, which is expected to generate $663.9 million — $40.7 more than this year’s budget.

Hey cuteness- This ISN'T about me.
Are you a renter or just in foreclosure? Which?

I was under the impression that since we pay for PBSO as part of City taxes, we don't pay for them twice or again in our county taxes. Am I wrong on this?

As for Maxwell, even if you believe him (which come on, the City has a major deficit they can't give back any extra money to anyone), he's not going to be in office forever. If you love this administration and you hated the prior administration, you know that things change on a whim. I have no faith, since no legal obligation, that any administration is going to give back money.

The fact that Lynn doesn't pay any city taxes, along with 60% of the city is a major problem and lends support to the idea that no taxes will ever be refunded back by this City b/c we are broke.

Frankly, I think its great that Lynn can see past her own interests in this 2020 vote and see the risk for the city's residents, reputation and future as a whole. Most people in her situation would vote yes, new roads and not paid by me.

OK--that's it. This is NOT about me.

Taxes are paid in other areas by everyone. Tell the commission to end the slum, blight and the crime and maybe, just maybe, we ALL WILL BE PAYING THEIR TAX and helping with the cost of services.

We will never get refunds on taxes; we will never get a reduction in millage; the city will grab the money in any fashion it can. Look for anything to rise.

Budgets for 2014/2015 are being discussed right now.

The city will receive the certification of taxable property on July 1. They have some time to adjust this bond amount. They won't.

you don't pay for the sheriff on your county taxes but you pay for a lot of stuff. Your total tax rate last year was 23.7518.
