Cleaning up the butts at John Prince Park

Comment Up

It's difficult to comprehend why so many people disrespect the property of others, even their own property for that matter. We are one big garbage dump for some. There are laws in our city and there are laws that are relative to John Prince Park in our county. No one gives a crap, literally, as seen by these photos. Pooper Scooper laws are not adhered nor enforced.  We never see a Park Ranger. Cleaning up after yourself and your dog, forget about it. We see empty beer and booze bottles everyday.  These are the characters hanging out directly across from where we live. We collected 6 bags of butts by one park bench. In about two weeks, it will be God awful once again.

The butts are all those who throw their garbage on the ground so that someone else can pick it up for them and place it in the garbage can.

Disgusting. I've never seen a mess like that at Rodger Dean Stadium Park.

We just have a lot of pigs in and around Lake Worth, a city that can't do anything about blight and a city that believes that development will cure all those ills. We will wave our fairy wand and it will all go away as we continue to build affordable housing.

Pavilion at Bryant Park just as bad, especially with bathrooms and free overnight lodging included

Thanks for cleaning up, Lynn. If we all just did a little bit once in a while in our own areas, things would look better. It would be nice if the county could put a receptacle near the bench.

If you look at the delray model you'll see a thriving city hub, Atlantic Ave. Maybe a little too thriving (but that's another matter). Delrays development on atlantic and outward in all directions was/is a slow process, BUT development did push out the blight and trouble associated with a rundown area. Maybe thats what the city leaders have in mind? Are you guys looking to be another Delray or is that too much development? I work in LW but live in Boca...so I have some concern how the city handles its problems.

I think some of our issue is cultural, I think some is infrastructure (not enough well placed and regularly emptied trash cans), some of it is laziness and some of it is contagious.

Where there is trash, people throw more trash, where it is clean and neat people are more likely to be clean and neat. Even on our well tended block, I find and pick up trash (most of it comes from the trash pick up, comes out of the cans, or it comes from people walking by).

At our rental property, south end of the city, my husband will spend an hour cleaning up the whole block and then people in the neighborhood walk by and throw down trash. It is depressing, they live in the neighborhood and should care but they don't.

Yes, a lot of pig who smoke in Lake Worth who think it is their right to just throw their butts all over the ground no respect for others or our community as a whole. They do it at the beach too, so many butts all over the beach, no one cares or respects our earth. What is irking is the same smokers then want handicapped decals and license plates because they have poor health due to their poor choices of smoking all their lives, and the rest of us are supposed to kiss their asses and feel sorry for them. Smokers suck the big one!

I was just accused of making a big deal out of this. Someone got angry--the same person who gets angry about everything i do. Well, look at it this way--I concentrated on pigs in the park rather than in LW. Was it you who left all the butts?

Guess there's no political pull in picking up cigarette butts..

We have always had people who litter and we always will.
It's nice to see someone taking an effort to make our world a cleaner place.

Lynn,

Posting the obvious and the very TRUE facts is a thing you do very well. I know that opinion post are debatable however this is a Factual post and its a shame that some "others" in this town find reason to break you down when your telling the truth. I like the fact that others are finding the truth and hope you can keep that momentum up and moving forward.

Facts are Facts and Pictures paint so many different meanings. I appreciate this post and the human part of it that proves we are our own enemies and issues.

Just wish others in this crazy town would realize by attacking others is an insult to our town of free idea's is not conducive to a better society and those who make it their purpose to Trash what is not their view is only hurting themselves.

Thank you for standing up for your beliefs and understanding and that I have my own beliefs. Sometimes we agree and sometimes we don't but at least we can talk and chat with out Slander like another NA board member and blogger who only thinks that their opinion is the correct one. God Speed to you Lynn!

Love and Hugs and welcome to the ROLO NA

The bully is making fun of you again. Not working bully. He is out there still staying afloat on a noodle.

Well, when you have no debate you resort to name calling. He is tops at this and learned it all from his lakeworthless friend I would guess.

My advice to the person who is so concerned about my not paying taxes--tell the BCE to clean up the slum and blight, the number one concern of everyone in this city. Until you do that, property values will stay low.
