Veterans and the Blue Star Memorial

Comment Up

There is a lot going on this weekend to honor our Veterans. Our Lake Worth Veteran's Day Parade begins at 2pm downtown Lake Worth today. Hope to see everyone there.

On Sunday, November 11, there is a dedication at 4pm for the new Blue Star Memorial highway marker that will replace the original marker that had fallen into total disarray. My friend and neighbor, Joe Matthews, Captain, U. S. Marine Corps (Ret'd) will be the speaker for this tribute to all armed forces that have defended the United States of America. This event takes place at Federal Highway and 19th Avenue North where the marker will be installed by the City of Lake Worth due to the efforts of Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell.

Funding for this Marker was raised by the Lake Worth Town and County Garden Club as well as American Legion Post 47 of Lake Worth that had a fundraiser in June. The American Legion Hall located at 2315 N. Dixie Highway will have a social hour open to the public following the ceremony.

With all the picture taking you do, why couldn't you take one of the marker in your own town? Alabama?
