Lake Worth Casino on Channel 12

Comment Up

Even the mayor admits that the casino can be profitable with "proper business handling."

It is the mayor and two commissioners, Maxwell and Amoroso, who negotiated the leases at the casino.  But they still like to tell everyone that our Casino is not making money.  Whose fault is that?  Why haven't they leased the upstairs space in all this time? They have had 4.5 years to do it. Some believe that they are waiting until after the election when Hudson Holdings is waiting to grab our beach.

The story now is that they can't lease the second floor because they are suing the contractor.  Which is it? Two months ago it was let's lease the upstairs now we get a whole new routine of excuses for lousy management. The mayor says that there have been a lot of misconceptions over the project and to give her a call.

I was so excited to see cbs bring this to light, and thanks for putting this up for people to see! After 4.5 years and a horrible secret ITN process to benefit HH, now suddenly nothing can be done?? HUH?? Do you think we all forgot the ITN. If nothing could be done awaiting legal settlement--what the hell were you doing with 6 months of secret meetings? And note the Mayor's statement that with proper management this place could make money or (now she backtracks) even break even. Madam Mayor let's please look at who is doing the managing. That would be yourself, the gang of 3, and City Manager Bornstein. Like saying vote us back in, so we can give you more of the same. And notice how she quickly slips in that she is now for the beach remaining public. Could have fooled me and anyone with half a brain. When you take 6 months of meetings in secret to help install HH and laugh about "public participation" your actions belie your present words. We all know that this is another ruse to prove that we broken people just are unable to "afford" our beach.

I notice that now all the incumbents are vocalizing that the beach is to be kept public. A complete flip-flop from their very words and ACTIONS this past year. Amazing what running against others willing to call you out on this has done to your platform re the beach. A 180 degree turn right before the election. I love cbs for bringing this to light.

Even if Hudson Holdings gets a hold of our casino complex and the parking area, they can still get a long-term lease that can be renewed up to 99 years. Even if they build up there, it will still be a public beach and the city will still own the property. It's all semantics..rhetoric.

I'm not sure which is worse...
The lies they tell (because it's a different story depending
on the audience) or the lies they think we'll believe!

the mayor wouldn't dare verbalize or put in print all of the "misconceptions" What lies is she telling?

We need to be very sure people are aware of all this and get out and vote. Lots of people who live here don't go to the meetings. The editorial a little while back in PBPost complaining about the red signs to keep the beach public is evidence they still want only their version of the truth out there. Talk to your neighbors and talk it up. I know when I was working overtime I barely had time to even see who was running or when elections were.
