The Meeting from Hell - Bow ties, Smiles and Viles

Comment Up
All those on the dais sported bow ties in solidarity for the
new city manager,
Michael Bornstein

This meeting started out warm, jovial and friendly--bow ties and smiles-- but by the time it got to the business at hand, it turned ugly. Without a doubt, this was a meeting from hell. The culture has now been formed and it starts at the top--nasty temper tantrums are the norm. Accusatory snipes are in. The Mayor and Vice Mayor get red faced in their political enthusiasm. Nasty AZZ is the name of this game.

We were hoping with a new city manager (their choice) now in place, that the nastiness and bullying would stop--especially by the Vice Mayor...not to be. If anything, it is worse because now they know they have complete control and power as well as a city manager who will look out for them. Anyone in their way of that 3 to 2 vote, watch out. Maxwell didn't want to prolong the meeting and wanted to leave. Vote it all his way and hit the highway. Why waste any more time?

It is difficult wrapping your teeth around a meeting such as this as every single phase of it on the important issues turned volatile--caused and encouraged by the "visionaries" whose attitudes escalated to residents in the chamber who were blatantly rude and obnoxious and downright vile. Has anyone noticed that the more nasty individuals are a few who ran for office and lost? This "getting even" thing is so much fun, right Vice Mayor? These three have forgotten cordiality. Waz dat?

Two weeks ago the ZIP that had been developed over months of work and at the Commission's direction from the January joint meeting, was approved. Last night that approval was reversed with a 180^ turn on The Zoning in Progress due to a last 98 second opinion from Bornstein. We now have $100 million in projects that will have to wait. This is all a stall to reverse the proposed heights in the city.

The Planning & Zoning Board has been changed back to 5 members and 2 alternates to make it consistent with the Preservation Board. What this has to do with it, I don't know. Professionals will dominate the P&Z board in the future assuring special interests will now lead this Board and change the face of our city. The commission can kick off any member no matter when his term ends because of lack of "qualifications." Anarchy at its finest.

Occupiers have taken over our Utility. A Citizens Utility Board was approved so that citizens who constantly complain about high electric rates can now delve into the "black hole" and find out what's what. These people do not have to be qualified such as being an engineer--all they have to be is interested and loud. Other than Mary Lindsey, few know what a kilowatt hour is. Think about this...it will be just another ineffective political, corrupt Board just like the Utility Advisory Board of decades ago but maybe it will keep them occupied. More anarchy in the name of democracy.

The Mayor has also forgotten to use the gavel and ignores the abuse coming from many in the room and those who just have to be heard after the buzzer has sounded. Afterall, what they have to say is much more important than anyone else's opinion. This continues to happen. It is the new culture: rude, arrogant, nasty, explosive with no boundaries when it comes to acceptable behavior...despicable and morally reprehensible. Please get rid of that back row in the Chamber.

That Cordiality Resolution is out the window with the rest of common decency. It is a true BULLY Pulpit.

What are the $100 million in projects that must wait? That seems like a lot of development.

I'll have to come to the next meeting. I'm guessing "the back row of the chamber" consists of your hated "dirty dozen". I finally get to see who they are as you won't ever mention them by name.

It was a revolting meeting in many respects. The biggest one was that there was no respect for anyone. Sad.

I was at that meeting last night I did not hear anyone rude from the back row. I did hear somebody sitting near the front laugh out load when Mulvehill said something, and Mulvehill said something back to him. And at that point the Mayor DID use her gavel, and said we will have respect, and sevility, and then gave us all a long lecture. Some of the things they voted for I was against, but that is Lake Worth not everyone thinks alike.

I thought I recognized the CM. Kind of resembles Mr. Peepers from many years ago.
