The Power of Art now at the Art League downtown Lake Worth

Yesterday I wandered downtown to see the latest art show at the Art League, located at 604 Lucerne Avenue in Lake Worth featuring teacher and student paintings. There are approximately 47 paintings on display and for sale in various mediums. The show is called The Power of Art + Student + Teacher and will be there through May 9.

While waiting for the show to open at 2pm I happened to look up and saw someone drying rugs on their top floor balcony at The Lucerne. It struck me as incongruent to the scene I was just about to experience. We can't always blame slum and blight on the poor folks.

Featured above is John Becker's acrylic. John and his wife live in Murry Hills and he is an excellent muralist, his specialty.

During the last 16 years, Becker has completed 20 murals, including two at North Grade Elementary. One covers two walls and was completed in 2003, depicting the Lake Worth beach and pier as viewed from the north.

This art piece is entitled Buzy Beach and sells for $190.
