City of Lake Worth Beach - Nothing but Excuses

Overflowing for two days in this photo

For months on end, those visiting the City of Lake Worth Beach have endured broken sidewalks, filthy walkways that have not been pressure cleaned and garbage overflowing. Streets are not being swept. People don't even want to visit.

This photo was sent to me by a business owner in our downtown who said that it happens with frequency. It is constantly reported and the excuse seems to be that garbage trucks have broken down. This time he was told that 3 out of 4 trucks were inoperable. Why are they not being maintained?

The city manager needs to hire a service to pick up the garbage if trucks are out of service.

There is no excuse for this.

Try calling any department within the city. You NEVER get a live person. You are shuffled around to eventually leave a voice mail with some unknown party who NEVER calls back. I am yet to receive a call back about getting the final approval for a meter upgrade we did in our building in January. Finally I got it from my insurance agent.

I have noticed how dirty the sidewalks are most of the time. I wonder why all shop owners are not complaining. Perhaps they are. We will never know. Jamie Brown used to be on top of stuff.

Too bad we can't make them clean up what we have...before they can add a glass museum and more parking mess.

I can assure you that code enforcement would fine anyone who left that for more than a day. I think the only department receiving revenue is code enforcement. Have you seen the number of people at the magistrate hearings for dumb ass things? Each person pays fees of $423.50 just to be told "you are now in compliance". It's a money racket.

No one wants to talk to you, Lynn. No one. Can you blame them?

contact code enforcement!

I agree with the previous comments of course, but there is nothing preventing the shop owner from pressure washing their own property in the meantime. They should be thinking about the customers first. If your housekeeper is unable to get to you for whatever reason, and the laundry needs to be done, and the dishes washed, and the trash taken out, what do you do?

Lake Worth needs to concentrate on the basics. We need working garbage trucks more than we need pie in the sky schemes for our city and beach.

If they don't get rid of the homeless drug addicts, there won't be a town. It's a frightening place now. The homeless I'm seeing now, are not people that were born here, but frightening psychotics, that you can make book are armed with knives. They don't want your money; they want to kill you. This is a very naive population living here. Sit on Lake Avenue at L Street and just watch what is walking by.

@9:05...the city should be cleaning up the sidewalks, etc. It is not the businesses responsibility to do the city's job.

The city cleans the sidewalks every weekday before 7am, they use leaf blowers it blow debris on to the avenues then the street sweeper comes through.

Do you lake worth beach or what?

@6:03...This must be a question from a Democrat. We are not allowed to challenge the government? Pose questions? The garbage can still has not been emptied as of today.
