Everyone had the right to vote. No one was turned away who didn't have the right to vote on a provisional ballot or come back later.

Can't wait to hear this spin and all their evidence they have gathered. As said previously, all these YES voters will come out of the woodwork.

We had a larger turnout here in Lake Worth than any city in the county.

Clearly everyone who is eligible to vote should be able to vote and that vote should be counted. To the extent there were provisional votes that were cast (for or against the Bond) that were not counted and should be counted, that is a serious situation that we all should be concerned about, since the Supervisor of Election seems to struggle with having a problem free election.

However, to the extent you are a voter and your provisional vote was not counted, I don't think the City should spend City money (tax-payer money) to get involved, rather the responsibility is on the voter to address with sanctions.

All provisional ballots were counted if they were properly signed, etc.

I want to know why this election has not been certified.

There were over 20 provisional ballots that were discounted, because the Poll Workers wrote something incorrectly on the outside of the ballots. They were Not opened. I think all votes should be counted regardless of the fact the Poll Worker made a mistake.

I called the PBC SOE and left a message asking about the certification process. I will post what I hear when I hear!

Ask yourself "Would the city be this concerned about every vote counting if the bond had passed by 25 votes??" I would say NO they would not be concerned!

Anon @ 4:59 PM - I disagree with your conclusion.

Per Florida Statute 100.271 - If any bond referendum is held in conjunction with any other election, however, the officials responsible for the canvass of such election shall also canvass the returns of the referendum and certify the same to the proper governing body.

Sounds like PBC Supervisor of Elections is the one who certifies the vote on this one.

True, Frank. I would imagine that the city is just holding up the vote to accept the results. Friday should be interesting.

Everyone make sure you wear your hip boots to Friday's meeting because this Commission is going to be shoveling a tanker truck full of bull$hiit!
People listening and watching on line can play a drinking game-take a shot each time that Pam Triolo expresses her concern for the voters of Lake Worth.
Also ,make a wager on who will get redder in the face more often, Commissioner Scott Maxwell or Mayor Pam Triolo.
I don't recall the Commission being concerned for the voters when they tried to ignore the overwhelming will of the people in the heights charter amendment vote.
What standing does the city even have in this case? It is not up to them to question a vote of the people one way or another.
It will be interesting to see how many billable hours are being spent on this issue by the city attorney.

Even if all the rejected provisional votes had been accepted and even if all of those votes were For Bonds, those votes would not offset the 25 vote win for No Bonds.

But it would have triggered a re-count.

I only trust the SOE to be involved in the ballot count.

I don't trust the SOE, but a recount would have more invovled than just Bucher. She is the SOE who allowed the CAUT PAC to register in the county without the proper documents.

Lynn Anderson said...

Of course you don't trust the SOE...she followed the law on the provisional ballots.

The proper documents were given to CAUT. If there was a missing document, CAUT was unaware of it. The Pac filled out everything requested of it and the documents were accepted. Go after all the other county PAC's for the same reason, anonymous.
