California Governor Gavin Newsom told CNN host Jake Tapper that he hopes Haley stays in the GOP Primary because she’s become one of Democrats’ “better surrogates” to attack Donald Trump.“I think she’s one of our better surrogates, so I hope she stays in. I hope she does well tomorrow — at least, well enough,” Newsom said on CNN’s State of the Union before Haley’s landslide defeat in the South Carolina Primary.
Newsom said that he agreed with most of the attacks that Haley was making against Trump.
“I think she’s spot on, on 99 percent of it,” Newsom said. “So, I’m enjoying this Primary. And I hope it continues, so I wish her luck.”

Call me old-fashioned but I don't think that a guy who lost the popular vote in 2016 and 2020 and then the House and the Senate and who has been indicted on 91 felony counts is the best or most electable Republican out there. So I think that Republicans like me need an option and Haley is the only one out there.
Saying that, I know there's a lot of Trump fans who disagree. It's America, they're free to do that. But mark my words, if MAGA voters think that Trump is going to beat Biden in November, I think they're mistaken.
