Florida Amendment Results

It just shows, if you can get something on the ballot, it will win in most cases particularly with a lot of money behind it. With amendment 3 passing, look to see the top two primary winners be Democrats.
  • Florida Amendment 1 - Require Citizenship To Vote  YES-76.19% Summary: A “yes” vote supports amending the Florida Constitution to state that “only a citizen” of the U.S. who is 18 years old or older can vote in Florida.
  • Florida Amendment 2 - Raise Minimum Wage YES-68.61% Summary:The minimum wage would increase to $10 on Sept. 30, 2021 and increase $1 a year thereafter until it reached $15 in 2026, with standard of living increases resuming in 2027
  • Florida Amendment 3 - Top-Two Open Primaries YES-57.28% Summary: The two highest vote-getters would advance to the general election, regardless of party affiliation. If only two candidates qualify, no primary is held and the winner is determined in the general election. This is not good in a Democrat held state as Republicans will be depending upon the Independent vote for the win.

This “open primary” system is also known as a “jungle primary.” It could potentially mean that two Democrats or two Republicans face each other in the general election. This did not pass as it needed a super-majority to change the Constitution

  • Florida Amendment 4 - Require Amendments To Pass Twice Election Results NO-53.61% Did not pass.
  • Florida Amendment 5 - Extend Save Our Homes YES-78.46%
  • Florida Amendment 6 - Extend Tax Discount for Veteran Spouses YES-91.4%
