Incredible! Berghdal will serve no prison time

You can thank Trump for that. His comments about Bergdahl influenced the judge hearing the case and were considered "mitigation evidence" for sentencing.

In your mind, perhaps.

You have a point 5:34. What bothers me is not the outcome of the trial, but the time that was spent freeing him from the Taliban to begin with. And then to free all of those terrorists in exchange for him. Who could understand this?

In a case like Bergdahl, it's important not to make a martyr of the guy. In Egypt, after the assassination of Sadat, Qutub, accused of his death, was offered many positions in lieu of the death sentence. This was done for the sole purpose of keeping him from becoming a martyr. In the end, he opted for the death sentence, and look what we have today. This is all written about in the marvelous book: "The Looming Tower" by Lawrence Wright.

Well, 5;34 is just flat wrong. Judges, need to judge based on the facts, not outside influences. If that is what the judge did, he should be immediately removed from the bench.
