A Home for Homeless Gay People in the heart of Lake Worth

It may be coming.

"Vita Nova, a non-profit that started 10 years ago and offers programs and services for 18-to-25-year-olds who have aged out of foster care in Palm Beach County. The group recently received a five-year grant from the Family and Youth Services Bureau and Runaway and Homeless Youth for more than $194,000 to open a facility for older homeless people who are gay, lesbian, bi-sexual or transgender between 18 and 22."

Jeff DeMario, the group’s chief executive officer likes Lake Worth as it is a welcoming community and his group is eyeing rental property on Dixie and Lake Avenue!!??

Sounds good, why not? How could it hurt anymore the city? Maybe they would be doing more good than Compass that does almost nothing for gays and just gives the CEO palakass a six figure salary from donations and government funding and they pay the city $1 a year to use the building. Compass would not even stay opened long enough for the AA meetings that wanted to use their facilities, they are not all that great, they even charge people to use their computers. Go figure! Compass is a scam, so maybe this could actually help some homeless gays instead.

My only objection is having it in the downtown.
Incidentally, Compass has a lease that expires in 2028. This was subsequent to the original lease in 2007. They pay $19,444.56 a year. Part of the agreement is that the city can use the space for city sponsored meetings. I don't think the city has used it in years.

Glad to hear they pay more than $1 a year now! If they are a non-profit, why do they allow smoking on their grounds, then? FL law says they are not allowed to smoke there. No one uses them because they close to early and the ceo is never there, he is jet setting in Europe or wherever and not there to let others from the city use the space. Compass is in bed with big Pharma!
