Supreme Court granted Certiorari to Trump

Supreme Court Expedites Trump Immunity Position as Illinois Kicks Him Off Ballot

The Supreme Court threw even more cold water on crazed Jack Smith’s attempts to prevent Americans from voting for Donald Trump this week.

The court granted certiorari (certiorari is a court process to seek judicial review of a decision of a lower court or government agency) to Trump’s argument that former presidents are immune from prosecution for their official acts while in office. The court even expedited the case, setting oral arguments for the week of April 22nd. This is terrible news for Jack Smith, since he had hoped to have Trump sitting in a courtroom today.

It’s a simple question. The Supreme Court phrased it this way in the one-page notice granting certiorari:

“Petition is granted limited to the following question: Whether and if so to what extent does a former President enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.”

Evil Jack and the rest of us will find out as oral arguments begin on April 22.
