On Monday April 3, 2023, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 543 into law. This bill, strengthening the second amendment, eliminates the requirement that an individual obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm in Florida.
Beginning July 1, 2023 permitless concealed carry for lawfully owned weapons will become legal.
Following the bill’s passage Florida joins Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansa, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming as the 26th state to enact a permitless concealed carry law. With Florida’s new bill a majority of states now have a permitless concealed carry law.
Democrats are acting like this is some sort of rogue law that will allow criminals to conceal carry. Nearly three million Floridians over 21 have active licenses earned by completing a safety training course, and meeting a host of other eligibility requirements.
Those requirements, like not being a felon, still apply.

I'm not so concerned that a criminal will carry. They are going to do so with or without this law.
My concern as a responsible gun owner who got a permit is that gun owners will be able to carry without taking the training class or demonstrate firearm competency that is now required for permit holders. If a gun owner has to use their firearm, I don't want them hitting innocent civilians instead of their target.
Also, the background check for the permit goes away. Some will say that it's not a big deal because you still have to have a background check to buy a gun. While that is true for most transactions, private sales don't have a background check so those concealed carry people go unchecked.
all the requirements still apply just not the requirement for a permit. mine comes up in September and I plan on renewing anyway.. Lynn Anderson

All the requirements for a permit holder do still apply, you're right. The permit requirements have not changed.
But you don't need a permit now, which means all the requirements of the permit don't apply to those people who elect not to get one.
