The Tuesday night commission meeting was one of the saddest in a year. Two rude bullies who sit with their supercilious smirks and smugs--the Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell and Mayor Pam Triolo -- arrogant and obnoxious, they believe that they are better, that they are the only ones who should have a voice and Commissioner McVoy should just stay quiet. In fact, they can get downright irritated whenever the minority of McVoy or Maier speak, if the mayor even notices their hands are raised, that is.
The majority have fed their egos and have been admiring themselves in the mirror for way too long now.
Commissioner McVoy said, "The purpose of having a commission with five people on it is to have a diversity of viewpoints, a diversity of residents represented and it is the duty of the person running the meeting to make sure that if any member of this commission has a wish to comment or add something to it, it's the duty of the person running the meeting--to respect and make sure that everybody in this room is represented by the commission.
And I've felt for a while that you're ramming stuff through and maybe it's procedure, whatever, but the point is you have an obligation to ensure that there are not comments pending...you do have that responsibility and I ask you to carry it out.

No public comment was allowed during the budget process. I don't think that's ever happened with other commissions. We spent $70k to have consultants build a "budgeting for dummies" model for each major fund and they couldn't figure out how to use the models appropriately. It was sickening and frustrating to watch them flounder. They don't understand the simplest finance priciples.
I just finished watching it online. Do you think Maxwell will have a stroke and I will have to do CPR or something? Can't bear the thought.
They do this almost as a matter of unwritten policy. They always have against Chris, especially Scott who seems to have a barely controlled angry personal grudge. Could it be because Chris exposed the blatant conflict of interest and cover up that was the "creative" ITN?
And then after the election they now have 2 commissioners they do not control and insist, against their will (gang of 3), on representing the voters vs. their "visionaries" (i.e. the developers they are working for behind the scenes? I also noticed that their dunces in the audience had full play to attack any speakers not in lock step with planned overdevelopment and getting HH into our beach, including outbursts and name calling. We need to return OUR government to the sunshine. Please, we cannot allow these people to run unopposed and turn our city over uncontrolled spending and catering only to developers. They did finally admit the ITN has been a disaster and let it die. So they are vulnerable: elections are looming. Please lets find good people to run.
Do you remember when Bornstein said that "we can't trust the numbers...they change?"
Maybe if Commissioner McVoy didn't drone on and on and on about the same things, often irrelevant and trying to tie in some other political point, there wouldn't be a need to have to contain him. What you have described as the treatment he receives, while inaccurate but your opinion, is a symptom of his conduct in general. If he wasn't so disrespectful of the process and everyone's time, this wouldn't be something that you are trying to make an issue of it. It is ultimately a non-issue and efficiently running a meeting is paramount.
You try to label them as bullies, I call them efficient. McVoy should make his point and move on but he doesn't. While labeling people as smug and arrogant, you need to include him. He was given the chance to speak his point on the topic at hand by Commissioner Maxwell and he choose to abuse that and talk about something else. He robs the common people of their time with these antics.
I guess it's easiest to try to label those as bullies that are not allowing someone who is trying to hijack the process to just run over them. You would call Trump a bully too.
Your assessment is off base, inaccurate and politically slanted purposely using certain words in an attempt to evoke emotion from the reader or sway their thinking. I disagree with what you have written.
It was very evident at the last meeting that Mayor Pam Triolo and Commissioner Scot Maxwell have no idea about how a meeting should be run. we need a Parliamentarian sitting at the dais to keep the meeting run correctly. The idea that "friends " of the gang of three are allowed to constantly make rude noises throughout the meeting is disgusting.
PLEASE MAYOR TRIOLO AND COMMISSIONERS- Do a " last call" for comment cards before the public speaks!!! I am so tired of people like Peggy Fisher and Loretta Sharp slithering up to throw a comment card in AFTER I have spoken just to disagree with me.

Do Commission members Maxwell and Triolo think that being a commissioner means to get a commission from developers who want to steal our greatest assets? Perhaps this is why they are so rude-to cover up a hidden agenda.
I stopped attending meetings because of the constant anger expressed by Maxwell. Who wants to be exposed to such unpleasant and long winded emotional outbursts?
The ONLY people trying to hijack the process are the bullies on the dais. They just can't seem to admit that is exactly what they are--ALWAYS RUDE AND CONDESCENDING.
I want to hear what my representatives have to say...not 2 little dictators up there losing their cool and shutting him up.
Lake Worth Taxpayers, place a 5 member Commission of Public servants,to respectfully present the Tax payers, the issues which concern Citizen taxpayers and their Lake Worth's.To hear their concerns, and respectfully attend them, with respectful background checked for professional proficiency, which results in success, not closing businesses, good revenue producing effects,City Employees.
It is obvious on the Lake Worth City public Servants' Commission, that it is partially composed of rough street ,know nothings, void of manners, result of their common, vulgar progenitors One refined, well mannered Member with PHD,Dr.McVoy is true representative of Lake Worth, intelligentsia, honorable tax payers,as well as local entrepreneur, devoted to Lake Worth interests,Commissioner Maier
It is imperative that the foul, ill mannered element be replaced by representatives, fellow Lake Worth Taxpayers,by members worth of our City with more than $1 billion assets, with no revenue, totally mismanaged by proven incompetents, necessary to replace.
A Lake Worth taxpayer since 1991.
There is a reason that people voted out Szerdi and voted in Maier, one of the reasons was to better balance out the commission (which has been pro big developer for a while now). People voted for McVoy and Meier to create a diversity of voices and opinions because many voices are not being represented by the majority.
So what does the majority do, simply tries to ignore other elected officials. I know the job is frustrating and I can understand, at times, wanting to cut off comment, but you are all supposed to be adults can you not treat each other as adults.
It's so much more than just ignoring them. I don't want people as rude as these people making decisions for me.
My faith tells me to forgive but my flesh wants to shove that 'gavel' where the sun don't shine. The schools have a 0 tolerance policy for bullies but these 2 on the present dais have made it an "ART"! When the tide turns (as it always does) their self made kingdom will be flooded with the same bs and I don't think they'll like following the rules as written and not made up as they go in favor of themselves and their 'pets'!
Anon at 10:50-Good Grief! You think MCVOY drones on and on?!? What about Whopper Boy, Scott Maxwell? Have you BEEN to a meeting lately? Do you remember the Nadine Burn's rants? They were never ending! That "woman" made a junk yard dog seem warm and fuzzy! Retha Lowe would go off on some ridiculous tangent that never made ANY sense, argued for one point of view and then voted the opposite way! That was one confused Mama.Szerdi LOVED to hear himself talk.He would talk just to be entertained by the sound of his own voice. He never shut up.If only someone could have placed a mirror at his seat, he would have been so preoccupied by his own glorious image that we would have been saved from his endless monologues.
