Announcement from our Vice Mayor

While at the National League of Cities conference, I learned that Florida passed an economic gardening bill focusing on 2nd stage companies. Second stage companies are defined below. Yours may be one of them! This bill is a $1.5 mil technical assistance pilot program providing 35 hours of free technical assistance to help companies grow. Workforce Florida has a new initiative in place to make available funds from the IWT Grant program to address the specific skills upgrade training needs of Florida’s second-stage growth companies participating in the program. What are the Eligibility Criteria for GrowFL?

To be considered for selection as a participant in the Florida Economic Gardening Technical Assistance Pilot Program, an enterprise must meet the following criteria at the time of selection:

  • Be a for-profit, privately held, investment-grade business;
  • Employ at least 10 but not more than 50 people;
  • Maintained its principal place of business in Florida for at least the previous two years;
  • Generate at least $1 million but not more than $25 million in annual revenue;
  • Qualify for the tax refund program for qualified target industry businesses under s. 288.106;
  • During three of the previous five years, have increased both number of full-time equivalent employees in this state and gross revenues.
