Quote of the Day - Commissioner Christopher McVoy

“$210,000 going to five people.. That seems like a big chunk. We’re not in this for the money or personal benefit.”

~ Commissioner Christopher McVoy
speaking to the pay raise voted in by the majority commission last night.

And McVoy is right. No one asked these people to run for office. Public Service is never about money. They know going in that the pay is minimal. Now, they have told everyone that they are in it for the money. Voting yourself a raise of this magnitude is arrogant. Not only do they get a pay raise, they get health insurance, a $6,000 year car allowance whether they drive their car or not and other benefits that I can't seem to get from City Hall.

Besides City Manager Bornstein being their number one cheerleader for justification, the coolest thing of all is their office accounts--rolled over campaign funds that are used for dry cleaning, meals at plush places, gasoline, you name it and you will find it on their office reports.

OK,this sucks. These people no longer represent us,they LIVE off of us! My husband and I can't afford to spend 500 a month on a vehicle, but my tax dollars let my "representatives"spend this much??? Are we also paying for their fuel? if so ,I want to know when these vehicles are being used for personal and not city business. We live in a 5 square mile town for God's sake. Tell you what-I'll chip in for a bicycle or a pair of skates for these parasites. Katie Mcgiveron

Ya know I like McVoy! Hes the only one thats incorruptible, unlike his immoral peers on the board. He's the lonewolf up their, the only one who gives a damn about the community. Meanwhile the rest are only in it for personal gain and the nostalgic feeling of "staying" in the limelight! You're fooling yourself if you truly think Ms. Trilio, CM & the fat cat cheerleading commissioners are clean. Simply put their scummy politicians. Its funny that Lake Worth can easily find money for their raises but for the life of them just cant locate the money for the employees that are fighting for their pensions. Pitiful Lake Worth. Purely Pitiful! Democracy is dead when they can just vote more for themselves rather than allowing the public, the people they supposedly "serve" a choice. Corruption breeds corruption.

Chris McVoy is an honest man. He's one of the reasons why I still have faith in politics and what keeps me going. The abuse he suffers at the hands of the Trio is revolting.

We the people can do a petition for ordinance reversal to stop this theft of our tax dollars.

The City Charter authorizes it and outlines the requirements.

We should be able to vote on stuff like this.
