"Get it off my plate," says the Commission

On Tuesday's agenda the city commission will be handing over even more power to the city manager who has said in the past that our city is "dysfunctional."  I guess, in Bornstein's opinion, to make it more functional would be to grab more power from the city commission...get it off their plates--they have waaaaay too much to handle...a ribbon cutting here, a pothole there. And the commission goes along with this thinking.

Ironic that this public service job will allow the commission to vote on a whopping raise for "working so hard" in a part-time job that was never ever about the money or so we thought. They always use comparisons---this city does this; that city does that. "We haven't had a raise in over a decade."  All the dirty politics and entitlements are in motion. It's bad enough about almost doubling your salary but it's the $500 dollar a month car allowance that takes the cake. Do they also fill up their tanks at the city owned pumps?

It used to be that $25,000 was a lot of money. It still is if it is coming out of your own pocket and not the "walking wallet" as Peter Timm used to say..

Ordinance No. 2017-04 – First Reading – increase the City Manager’s settlement authority and schedule the public hearing date for January 24, 2017
SUMMARY:
The ordinance increases the City Manager’s settlement authority to $25,000 and authorizes him to delegate authority up to $5,000 to settle claims against the City.

Fairly soon, if the commission continues to abrogate its responsibilities, we could eliminate this commission altogether. Time for Term Limits.

This commission is dreadful. I am against these big salaries for the amount of work they do.

$750.00 a week for a part-time and lousy job.

Time for an ordinance reversal.

Pretty funny coming from the people that don't pay any property taxes to the city and SHOULD NOT comment on how city money is spent because they are freeloaders.

No freeloader here. YOU'RE AN ASS @4:47.
What better person to talk about it?
This is America. This is a democracy.
Not on food stamps. No subsidized housing. No free cheese. Don't owe a soul for anything.
YOU REALLY ARE AN ASS.
Oh, that's right, I already told you that.

Sounds like 4:47pm is a commissioner, talk about freeloaders!

4:47 You make the trio look intelligent.

Freeloaders are Commissioners who want almost $20 a day as a car allowance in a 5 square mile city.
Add $600.00 a month for their part time jobs, and you have arrogant Commissioners in league with their incompetent city Manager, fleecing the taxpayers they just shafted with a $40 million bond to fix a few of the roads.

Ordinance reversals are available to correct their malfeasance.
