The Second Reading on three year terms is on tonight's Public Hearings. This will pass again tonight and will be on the March 14, 2017 ballot.
Ordinance No. 2017-01 – Second Reading and Public Hearing – call for a charter referendum election
SUMMARY:
The ordinance amends the City Charter to extend the elected officials’ terms from two to three years and place a question on the March 14, 2017, municipal general election ballot.
BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION:
If approved by the voters, candidates seeking election to the Offices of Mayor and Commissioner from Districts 1 and 3 will be for three-year terms commencing in March 2018. Candidates seeking election to the Offices of Commissioner from Districts 2 and 4 will be for three-year terms commencing in March 2019.
This ordinance does not extend the term for any current seated elected official.
And while we're talking about this, what about those humongous raises--Including the car allowance of $6,000 a year,
the mayor will be making $35,500 and each commissioner $30,500 a year for part-time work...more than our average worker in Lake Worth makes for full-time work, who lives in slum, blight, daily crime and endures high rental rates.

This is so sinful Lynn, this city will not hire anyone, only for part time 29 hours a week so they do not have to pay any benefits, yet expect them to be available anytime. Most make about 12-15K a year. Yet these elected give themselves huge raises want benefits and all these perks, how abusive. How do they expect ti keep help only offering part-time work, people need more than that. These elected are the biggest abusers of power I have ever seen. I will boycott ever one of their businesses and all businesses that post campaign signs on their properties. andy, pam, and scott are a disgrace to our society.
Didn't they do this a few years ago and try to make it 3 years and it didn't pass right?
It was about 8 years ago and they LOST in a landslide.
Politicians, like dirty diapers should be changed often !!!!!!
They are doing what they think they can get away with.
They are taking advantage of a sleepy electorate.
