Lake Worth still wants to grab the cash

Comment Up

What citizen can come up with the best idea to tax all of the residents in Lake Worth? Sounds silly, doesn't it?

Today is January 12. At the January 6th commission meeting, the city attorney, Glen Torcivia, casually mentioned a public financing workshop called for January 27th to be held at Compass--if he hadn't said anything, NO ONE WOULD HAVE KNOWN A THING ABOUT IT. But Glen IS into transparency. He had no idea it was not to be "prematurely" announced.

The city said that it was going to advertise this meeting to encourage the residents to give them ideas on how to finance the roads infrastructure and fix the potholes.  They actually are asking for ideas from the public who have NO CLUE about financing bonds or even how to pay their credit card on time.

This is a joke of humongous proportions and the City Commission only has 15 more days to get anyone interested in taxing themselves in order to grab the cash.  The electorate already voted the whole idea down in August.

Remember after the bond failed a number of people spoke at the commission meeting saying that they wanted to be heard. They wanted to tell the commission why they could not approve the bond and discuss what was wrong with that plan. I believe that this workshop is intended to give the citizens an opportunity to be heard. The issue you raise is whether the commission has an alternative motive. That is based on a lack of trust and a sense that City Hall has no intention of being forthright with us. This issue so divided the city that I have to also wonder what the commission really wants to know. Done of us want to pay higher taxes and it's completely unfair to tax only 35% of the city for this work. So what are the alternatives? Perhaps the city could outline the options and ask us for opinions relative to each.

As Peter Timm would say, Let's just hear the TRUTH from the city and then go from there.

The commission is a big disappointment. Who would trust them after what they have done in the last two elections? Seriously. Really?

What have they done the last 2 elections?

We should be so Lucky John Rinaldi!
McVoy asked the same thing you assumed and the Mayor went off on a rant that rivals any rant I ever went on! She/They Do Not Want to hear the Bad & the Ugly - ONLY THE GOOD! Listen to her rebut McVoy w/a really twisted diatribe on why they don't want to hear the bad - only good and positive! Well here's a true positive - we ALREADY PAID FOR THE ROADS and other BORING City Jobs!

They are so full of 'chit' up to their brown eyes! This meeting is NOT to trim the budget and redirect funds but beat a dead horse to death again and again and again! It's damn INSULTING they treat us like toddlers when we are their BOSSES! Remember they called US LIARS when we presented the Finance Directors Figures - then there's how your friends turned on you and Colleen!

This Dais Allowed that to happen to you John - a favorite - what chance do I have in Hell as a fighter and ex-poser of their BS on Social Media - remember the video the Mayor further insulted us with? It would take me 33 K to find out the LW Lawyer cost for LW 2020 but for free because they are charging the SOE for his time!
