Lake Worth opts out of Uniform Municipal Election Act again

On Tuesday will be the second reading of Ordinance 2014-25. The votes are recorded INCORRECTLY--

Commissioner McVoy was  the dissenting vote on this ordinance, exempting the city from the Uniform Municipal Election Act.  There is no way that anyone can confuse McVoy with Maxwell. Even after the Clerk's explanation, no one understood it with the possible exception of those who voted FOR it.

Back in October 2013, we adopted ordinance 2013-50 by saying: In compliance with the 2007 Charter amendment, (when we voted in November elections) the Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2007-44 and exempted itself from the Uniform Municipal Election Act in order to conduct its elections in November. Now that the electorate voted to go back to March elections, we have a new ordinance exempting us again.

71 The passage of this Ordinance on first reading was moved by
72 Commissioner Szerdi seconded by Commissioner Amoroso, and upon being
73 put to a vote, the vote was as follows:
74
75 Mayor Pam Triolo AYE
76 Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell NAY Incorrect recording of vote
77 Commissioner Christopher McVoy AYE  Incorrect
78 Commissioner Andy Amoroso AYE
79 Commissioner John Szerdi AYE
80
81 The Mayor thereupon declared this Ordinance duly passed on first
82 reading on the 23rd day of September 2014.
