RFK Jr. To Get Secret Service Protection After Failed Trump Assassination, Mayorkas Says
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will receive protection from the U.S. Secret Service following the attempted assassination of former President Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Monday.“In light of this weekend’s events, the president has directed me to work with the Secret Service to provide protection to Robert Kennedy, Jr. Both prior to and after the events of this past weekend,” Mayorkas told reporters.
On Monday, Trump joined growing calls for Kennedy to receive Secret Service protection in the days since the failed assassination during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In a Truth Social post, Trump said it was “imperative” that Kennedy receive the protection detail.
“Given the history of the Kennedy Family, this is the obvious right thing to do!” Trump wrote.
