Jim Jordan is the Ranking Member in this lopsided committee. Democrats won't quit and want complete destruction of all Republicans.

It wasn't reported by the media what type of train was involved in the crash on Florida East Coast Railway tracks operated by Virgin Trains USA and freight trains. Brightline, now known as Virgin Trains, travels about 110mph through this area. Not one death or accident has been attributed to Brightline.

Lake Worth High School Students help feed Homeless

High school seniors spend Thanksgiving on the street, 5,000 fed

Lake Worth High School has certainly changed since I went there. Now it has a lot of homeless kids and they tell us the school is full of the very poor. Many don't speak English or come from families where English is not spoken.

We were all poor back in my day and no one complained. We didn't get free breakfast or lunch. Our parents made sure that we were fed...it was their responsibility. Today, that daily responsibility in our Palm Beach County schools is thrown back on the government.

So what did some of the students do on Thanksgiving Day that had nothing to do with government handouts?--they gave back with their time and compassion all over the County.

"Dozens of Lake Worth High School seniors spent their Thanksgiving Day – not with their families – but on the streets of Palm Beach and Broward Counties feeding people in need. It’s a unique twist on a senior tradition, paying it forward and inspiring underclassmen."

Hopefully, the school teaches the students about the history of Thanksgiving Day and not that it's about a free turkey leg.

Why Adam Schlesinger is of interest to Lake Worth--Back in July 2005, Schlesinger bought the historic Gulfstream Hotel for $12,910,000 paying over double what it sold for only two years before. The hotel is 13,500 sq. ft. situated on 0.399 acres directly across from the Intracoastal Waterway and Bryant Park. It has 106 rooms in 65,456 square-feet and most rooms have a water view.

Adam Schlesinger came before a former Planning & Zoning Board on numerous occasions as well as the City Commission while Jeff Clemens was mayor. He was crying the blues that he couldn't get financing but NO one on the P&Z Board back then, (Lisa Maxwell, former candidate for District 4, Wes Blackman, former candidate for District 3 and Phil Spinelli to name a few), asked him to prove what he said--none of them even asked. They took him at his "word." They continued to give him extension after extension and allowed the Gulfstream to languish.

This is a hotel that survived the Great Depression but did not survive the financial depression we had. Asset Holding Company 5 LLC filed a foreclosure lawsuit against CSC Lake Worth Limited Partnership (Schlesinger) on August 11, 2010 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. The lawsuit sought repayment of a $12 million loan, plus the foreclosure of the hotel property. In May 2010, it sold for $7,225,000 to HH GULFSTREAM LAND HOLDINGS LLC (Hudson Holdings--remember them?). Another suit ensued and then Carl DeSantis owned the Gulfstream Hotel.

Now some on the staff of the City of Lake Worth as well as the commission want a public/private partnership at our beach with the idea of building a hotel there. The Commission voted NOT to put the pool on the ballot so I would expect that they have bigger and greater things in mind for our beach property. This public/private partnership idea that Commissioner Robinson advocates, caused a popular mayor, Rodney Romano, to be defeated years ago.

They are also placing a height amendment on the ballot that will give the Gulfstream Hotel and that entire block more height--a max of 87 feet. The idea of small town charm continues to erode with this administration. When the initiative passes by the voters, they can say, "See, the voters approved" and there won't be any Florida law they can use to overturn that vote like they did a few years ago when the voters told them they wanted no more than 45 feet downtown.

WPBF-25: The sheriff's office says it is trying to track down two men suspected of stealing a 2019 Lincoln MKC from a home in Lake Worth Beach. PBSO says the incident happened on November 12. Investigators say the suspects also used the victim's credit cards in West Palm Beach. The sheriff's office is asking for information and urges anyone who recognizes the pair to call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS.

Palm Beach Post: Palm Beach County Commissioners voted unanimously to back out of a national class-action lawsuit sparked by the opioid epidemic. Palm Beach Post--WEST PALM BEACH — As the saying goes, “there is strength in numbers.” But Palm Beach County commissioners believe there is more to gain by fighting an opioid battle in the courts alone.

That’s why commissioners unanimously voted to opt out of the national opioid class action lawsuit on Tuesday.

“Primarily, it’s because Palm Beach County happens to be one of the probably three worst hit counties in the United States,” said James Ferraro, who is one of the attorney’s representing the county in this case.

Palm Beach County initially filed its lawsuit in April 2018 against opioid manufacturers, pharmacies and three doctors, claiming they caused a local opioid crisis.

We all know how bad it is as the County is moving the homeless into John Prince Park that are coming from all over the county. The affliction of the Homeless is primarily due to that of drugs and mental illness.

Al Sharpton Paid $1 Million by His Own Charity in 2018

"They say that charity begins in the home and Rev Al Sharpton has taken that quite literally as his charity, National Action Network (NAN), paid him over one million dollars last year.

Sharpton was paid $1,046,948 by the non-profit, and he also got “a $324,000 salary — 32% higher than his 2017 pay. Sharpton claims that most of the money was to make up for previous years in which he did not accept his full pay.

Rev Al still owes still owes $698,470.99 in back taxes to the state of New York. Will the money be used to pay off his taxes or will the taxes on this money be added to what he owes?"
